@@larsk7708 This was just an informative video of what has happened to to rubber diaphragm which causes the Rough Idle. Which the Rough Idle was between 600Rpm - 720Rpm so this was not to noticeable in My case thus being the reason for not showing the the Rev counter nor the slight noise difference.

After installing new PCV valve . turned car on gave it 5/10 min to warm was ticking over fine and sounded smooth started driving Drove for an hour with not 1 problem what so ever was running mint as I’ve got back letting it tick over EML came on and started idling rough Fans stopped and was nearly stalling on tick over after a min or 2 it stopped trying to stall and fans kicked back in now ticking over fine a min went by it started idling rough fans stopped

I got mine from tps in Wolverhampton Uk. Make sure you get a new gasket for it to! If you have no luck send me your email and I’ll send you the part number. Failing that just call your nearest VW and ask to be put through to the parts department. There normally very good 👍🏼

I am gearing up to do this down the road but was wondering if I should pull the egnine and transmission together and then install it with the transmission mounted to the engine

Yes mate I did but I’d seriously recommend having someone to help guid it in as I knocked the end of the box with the black cover on and dented very slightly and once installed I could here a rotational tapping noise! However once installed I took the black cover off and tapped the dent out and it was all good 👍🏼 Good luck 🤞🏼

@@gotwebsite1 no on the gearbox mate it’s an inspection cover I think for the synchro it’s a black cover with a VW stamp embossed. I knocked it in the chassis as I was manoeuvring the engine and box in with the hoist 😂

I’d guess at a leak in the intake system somewhere. Rather than crankcase ventilation issues. P0507 Volkswagen/Audi Fault Code: Idle Air Control System Higher Than Expected. Receiving a P0507 code on your Volkswagen or Audi will read out “Idle Air Control System Higher Than Expected”. When this code is seen, it's as it sounds, your vehicle will be idling higher than the engine's optimal levels, 600-800rpms. Hope this helps, Good luck 🤞🏼

Mine is edition 30 and it's juddering in 1st gear to second is all I can tell. Would this be the pcv ? Is the cam follower worth looking at if it's not modified?

yeah I’d say it’s the pcv. I’d recommend you do change the cam follower if you have no idea when it was done. it should be done every 10k

I’d say it’s more than likely to be the pvc. Also might be worth checking your coil pack/packs if it’s running/sounding like a tractor

hey thanks for the vid. I have been having slight rough idle, hesitation from stops, also sometimes a misfire randomly . well I seen videos that usually this will make a high pitch whistle and whatever else your the first to talk about rough idle so I gave it a shot on my mk6 gti ,which on mine I can take the cap off and low and behold it has a nice slit in the rubber. so I will change it and see hopefully it will resolve all my problems.

@Cogwinder Gaming Is it possible to remove the cap to reveal the diaphragm, and then re-cap it? I don't want to buy a new PCV unless I know the diaphragm is torn. I've tried prying the cap off with a screw driver to no avail...

Mitchell Surendorff not that I’m aware of buddy, if you’ve got the original PCV Valve and your idle is fluctuating then you can guarantee it’s shot 👍🏼

Maz 786 I’d check all of the pipe work connectors and make sure everything is sealed. I assume the oil cap seals well and the dipstick is sealing properly

Finished rebuilding my Mk4 GTI just yesterday. I also had a low engine oil pressure. The pick up pipe was guilty. Previous owner used too much silicone on the oil pan and all that clogged the pickup pipe. Lifters we rattling like hell. But I didn't buy a new one I just cleaned it out. Nice one.

Yes, a failed PCV can cause random cylinder misfire(P0300). But there can be many other cause for P0300 as well.

Isai Lopez Villegas it’s an AGU engine and as standard it comes with a Cable operated throttle body..

another non mechanic here... good vid bro. im actually doing the research to pull a project just like this off to replace the 2.0 in a bug i laid hands on that has a wicked knock. plan to drop in the 1.8t and DQB trans (yes im looking at AWD, might not be able to pull it off but im gonna try)

@@CogwinderGaming you got it. my main issue is the rear floor pan situtation. i want to see if i can avoid having to cut the rear pan out by switching to a fuel cell. instead of having to rip the pan and then put in the one that will accept the AWD gas tank (fingers crossed, im gonna be getting a donor so if it doesnt work im off to the cutting wheel with it) all that ranted ill deffo keep you posted, ill eventually be doing videos on it if all goes well

Sam Sahota it’s not as bad as the 1.8t gti. I probably top up a 1/4 of a litre every 1500/2000 miles. I’ve just topped up so I’ll gauge it now you’ve asked 🤟🏼

Hi, do you mean that you changed the rear DV + front PCV? I have similar symptoms but I changed both but the problem remained .. during the march the car is revved up, instead of stopped sometimes it seems that revs up slightly without me touch the gas pedal !! you can explain me thanks

Try and install an oil catch can, it helps separate the water from the oil going back into the engine.
