My grandad always went way up above the falls somewhere. Always secretive about it. I gotta give ur first bend there a pan. Show the kids some gold. Nice to visit my ol stompin grounds.

I believe the old channel and maybe even Mclean's lost mine, meantioned by bill Barlee does run above the falls as well ..although most ( including what Ive tried..so far ) say that the gold stops at the falls.I think the old channel must run up above Mission creek and perhaps comes out on some higer benches/in some tributaries on its way south. They also say some of the gold people find in Rock creek ( definitely two diffenrent types/colours of gold found up there) has the same look as mission creek gold and that is it very possibly a glacial channel or an OLD ancient river that runs all the way ...Thanks for the comment !! I wanted to get up above the falls and do more exploring and this definitetly gets me pumped :) Stoked you enjoyed the video ...(ps an old timer told me of gold on a tributary of mission creek above the falls as well ..since I cant chase every lead I will share and say .. it was apparently near / above Three Forks ) .... Happy Prospecting !!!

@CanadianGoldMining that's awesome.! Stories like these get me and my pan back out. my dad thinks granddad went looking up tributaries aswell past the first main bridge up bug. I hunt hunt up there on bug frst .maybe the same story but apparently granddad knew of a native prospector that'd come down from there with gold nuggets and went trying to find it. He never said if he found it r not. The perfect old gold tale right! can see quite a few tributaries on the map above when I hunt. gotta remember my pan this deer season.. So much I haven't seen up there. Enjoy yourself up there!. Great video!

Thank you for your time. Much easier to file a claim in Canada than the USA. I live in Idaho, would there be any issues for me to file a claim in BC and being a USA citizen? I notice that dredging is no longer an option in BC, only highbankers that empty into something other than back into the river. If I have filed for a claim could I use a 3'' land dredge nozzle that does not drain into a creek or river? Have a good year out there.

Yes you need a valid Fmc to stake claims on mto- you can surf the page all you want but need this to do many things

You can pan on unclaimed ground ( unless provincial park/private property) and no not without the mineral claim owners permission

@@virtly Check MTO daily forfeits for claims coming up .. there are often calims for slae on FB, Kiji etc but make sure you do your due diligence/research ... thats about all i can suggest

Got a chance to placer mine in Stanley in the late 80's around the Vancouver shaft. Very difficult to deal with the amount of ground water even above creek level. Lots of respect for the oldtimers. Not sure you could run a small scale mine in there say 1000 yards or less without a lot of capital investment. But the potential . Then you wonder what's under all those tailings . To bad alot of the good looking stuff is a little close to the creek. Great vid and good luck.
