Did you use the wire tool to unlock the detent on the tensioner? If you don't release the ratchet mechanism inside the tensioner, it will stay locked in the extended position and you will not compress.

@@LynxStarAuto it was the backside that doesn’t have the ratcheting tensioner. I had the plastic tool and did end up getting to release after awhile. Got it all finished and now I’m dealing with cam alignment code/slow cam sensor code and occasional misfires. Had the blocks in so it couldn’t have jumped time but going to pull and double check timing marks. Best guess is a phaser crapped out or the bank 2 sensor

You need to have it tested and diagnosed in order to know for sure. They need to check the alarm trigger event and see which component in the car caused your alarm to engage.

How annoying is that! Does the special Acura / Honda tool hold it in neutral more secure? How much is it? If it's better it might be worth having in the trunk. By the way there is a hidden key unlock between the rear seat headrests to get into the trunk when you have a dead battery on a TLX. Not sure about other models.

Yes the factory Honda/Acura special tool works much better but if you’re in a bind you can use the socket shown in the video

Pure luck, while we were diagnosing/testing circuits we had the ignition on and the P (ark) and C (comfort) illuminated. Once that illuminated, we cranked it and she started right up

Remove the driver’s dashboard lower cover. It’s located to the right of the steering shaft/steering column. It’s the control unit with 3 connectors on it.

U will need to rest turn it key to 2nd position step on gas ⛽️ paddle for 30sc do not touch anything and turn key off release ur foot slowly than it will work than start the car next turn key again for 3-5min it will reset everything good to go try it u need to do this every year

Our shop charged about $1850 for full works including machine shop job. Problem went away and customer was satisfied

You’ll need to get a Xentry SDS system in order to carry this out this function. I tried using the Autel Maxisys and it didn’t have that feature

Ive spent almost 2,500$ doing EVERYTHING to try to get mine running right!!! Including just doing a valve job!! I think I have the same problem you discovered, did you end up fixing it? And if so what'd you end up having to do to get it running right? I'd greatly appreciate your input. Thank you. Awsome detective work finding that.

Client decided to go ahead and fix it and it's running great. We replaced the headgasket just on the Front head and used new cyliner head bolts (8 bolts). You could reuse the original ones if you'd like but we decided to get new ones from Acura. Mahle bolts are good also. I have another case study with same issue on a different MDX with 168k miles, also Front head gasket (the one close to radiator). We did the same fix on it and it's running great. I'll post the video soon. The key to finding this issue is allowing the engine to cool down, apply pressure to coolant system at 1 bar. Use a borescope camera to check inside the suspect cylinder for coolant intrusion.

Thanks, for the video. My wifes 17' mdx is doing this now, randomly going off at all hours. We have that scanner at work so I'll have to borrow and see if it's the same codes. It's annoying havig to bring it to the dealer , but it is what it is.

I'm not sure about the 17 RDX location. They usually put them in the same place or passenger side dashboard/kick panel. The keyless module will require programming

This is probably what's wrong with my Accord with nearly 300,000 miles, but I've been too lazy to do anything about it. I _finally_ did a valve adjustment (only because the valve covers started leaking after 20 years!) and it ran so much smoother. It wasn't until then that I was able to notice the slight misfire when I'd pull it out the garage and let it warm up a minute. It was audible through the exhaust, but it never set a check engine light so I just rolled on. It finally got me one day when I pulled out and it was barely running with a flashing CEL. Multiple cylinder misfire ... I threw some fresh spark plugs in it and that helped, but it was still there so in went six new coils. Still did it ... When I was doing a compression check one morning I noticed one of the spark plugs was glossy. I just cleaned it up and when I was done I noticed it ran smoother with no noticeable misfire. Maybe one day I'll investigate it further, if it doesn't make me do so by force.

On your TLX, the keyless access/TPMS control unit is located on the passenger side. Behind the glovebox.

You cannot turn off the alarm without affecting other systems on the network. You can disconnect both low and high horns but this will also prevent the horns from working.

Dealer would be best but also any shop who specializes in Honda/Acura products should be able to do it. They will need a PCM code directly from Acura server. The number changes every 24 hours. A fully licensed locksmith who has Honda/Acura subscription is able to program it for you.

Thanks for the info, turns out we have the same problem, and the mechanic was also looking at the start button at first, ultimately said that we have to take to the dealer because of some codes that only acura has, cant i just buy it and dwap it?

You can buy a new or a used keyless control unit and swap it out (as long as the part number is same) but it will need to be programmed to the car. Otherwise the vehicle will not start. Also during the programming, make sure to take all of your key fobs to the shop, so they can register them all at once. If you leave any key fobs at home while the shop programs the new keyless control unit, the keys at home will be inoperative.
