why doesn't PBS Charlotte ask the real question, why isn't there a rent-to-own program, i guarantee that the reverend is making a profit off of 'affordable' units? You want to lift your communities then start them on the path to equity or does the lord not say that in the bible. Same thing with these people creating 'affordable' units, why not make rent to own, why even have these 3rd party middlemen making these units, why isn't the government doing something to compete with these developers. See that's the catch here in America, these corporations and the banks buy the government and cook the laws in such a manner that you, the citizen, have to go through them and they don't have oversight, they can jack up the prices whenever and however they want. If there was actual competition from a source that is solely responsible for the safety and well-being of its citizens, the government, then you'd see how quickly these prices would go down. That's why we don't have things like medicare for all, universal pre-k, universal college, etc, b/c these vultures always have to get their beaks wet in the form of a controlled market.

I have always heard the Woodside Brothers built the hotel. The same brothers who built the Ocean Forest Hotel in Myrtle Beach which was demolished in 1974. I believe the were from the Greenville, Spartanburg area.

The Charlotte Airport Authority has made questionable decisions regarding the development and modernization of its infrastructure. A more efficient design is not only feasible but urgently needed. For example, the airport could construct linear passenger terminals, modeled after the efficient layout of Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson. This could be accomplished by building terminals between runways 18R/36L and 18C/36C, exclusively accommodating Oneworld traffic. Non-Oneworld flights could then utilize the primary gates at the existing B and C concourses. This setup would also enable exclusive runway use-18L/36R for non-Oneworld arrivals and departures-dramatically enhancing operational efficiency and reducing delays. Charlotte Airport is also uniquely positioned to integrate rail transport directly into its operations. A railway already carrying Amtrak trains passes near the terminal, offering an ideal opportunity to construct a station. Such a facility could provide both an Amtrak stop and a light rail connection to Charlotte’s city center, significantly improving multimodal access for passengers and reducing congestion at the airport. Unfortunately, the Airport Authority has instead chosen to focus on expanding the outdated E gates. This finger-pier design is plagued by inherent choke points and was never built to 21st-century standards. It continues to be a major source of inefficiency, contributing to frequent EDCTs (Expect Departure Clearance Times) due to flow constraints. For an airport with three runways in a region not heavily impacted by adverse weather, this is a glaring failure. The current approach overlooks obvious solutions to improve capacity and passenger experience. By adopting a forward-thinking strategy, such as consolidating operations with modern terminal layouts and rail integration, Charlotte Airport could address these shortcomings and make better use of its resources. What is not needed, however, is the addition of a new runway as some proposals suggest. The existing runways-18R/36L and 18C/36C-are perfectly capable of accommodating Oneworld traffic exclusively under a more efficient terminal design, leaving 18L/36R to handle non-Oneworld operations. The focus should be on optimizing what already exists, not on unnecessary expansions.
