Not Surprised to hear you say this... I hunt a number of black land prairie sites where the home and farm buildings were built on the highest elevation to help with flooding. The buildings are long gone and over the last 150 years or so the debris has been washed down grade into a rain cut drainage. When the fields are turned most of the metal is just too deep to hunt and you need heavy rainfall in order to re-cut the drainage that holds all the metal. Sometimes you can wait a few years before you get the conditions needed to hunt these sites. Once cleared the ground is basically a carpet of nails, nuts & bolts along with large pieces of farm iron and a massive amount of rust flakes from decaying nails and other metals. At first you just walk along and pick up all the visible items such as coins, buttons, relics & marbles along with all types of other things usually found at these sites. What is left is hundreds upon hundreds of nails and iron bits just on the surface layer with a few inches of the same under the ground mixed with non ferrous targets. I typically use a magnet and fill a couple five gallons buckets with nails and iron off the top layer before I ever break out a metal detector. The Deus 2, Legend, 900 & At Pro will completely clip out and they are rendered almost completely ineffective. You can throw coins right on the surface and not get a signal in a lot of cases. With the Deus 2 (9") in fast an using about 50% sensitivity and a reactivity of 5 and by holding the coil about three inches off the ground you can squeak a couple of targets out. The Legend and 900 while using the 6" coils and greatly reducing the sensitivity fair a bit better than the Deus 2 in this scenario. However, I have found that my Tesoro actually outperforms them all in this environment and the discrimination is more accurate as well. I hunt 80% of the time with digital detectors and the Deus 2 being my carry around and first strike detector and I adjust from there.

@@jasongwin8257 thank you so much for taking the time out to watch this video and comment. There is so much to learn about Metal Detecting other than air tests and freshly buried ‘pothole’ targets….. but that will be a subject for the future. I hope people read your comment and learn from it. Your last sentence Is so me. But, again, I am constantly evolving and learning. I am not a ‘be all, end all’ expert like some of the narcissistic people on KZbin posing as such, striving for views, money, free detectors, etc. They put people like me down for thinking outside the box. Hell, I have very few subscribers and only tried to provide a different reference for those interested. I’ll say it again, only those interested. I digress. I’ve gotten to a point in my life where I want to challenge myself at my foreshore sites. Perhaps buy a small Trond/Avantree, or such, wireless Low Latency transmitter/receiver and some Velcro brand Industrial strength self-adhesive hook and loop strips; 50mm/2" wide. Cut to fit back of transmitter and same size to stick to back of Nexus audio-out box. Buy a short length of stereo extension cable with a 3.5mm right angle male-end jack plug on one end (to go into transmitter) and either a 6.5mm male jack to go into audio outlet of the Nexus . Pair transmitter to headphones with Nexus switched off. Once paired, turn Nexus on and you're away to go. Around £25 for the lot. Only glitch is you'll need another set of wireless Low Latency headphones. Garretts are linked to their brand transmitter only, as far as I remember.

@@KernowekTim hey Tim thanks for the reply. I actually tried that and the latency is not quick enough with those and confuses the ground balance process. I think the gray ghost wireless even though it’s 2.4 GHz Bluetooth is going to work out. Its audio cable is separate from The charging port unlike Garrett.
