I can tell you hand on heart i am an honest dude and I would never give my endorsement to a venue I do not believe in 100 percent …. I promote frensham because i believe the venue is awesome and Matthew Carroll the fishery manager does an amazing job at frensham providing a great venue for day ticket anglers. If I did not believe in the venue I would not recommend it ….

I reckon Exmoor is a much underrated area. The small streams are worth investigating. There are guides who specialise small stream fishing there. Also don't forget Clatworthy and Wimbleball reservoirs, both great waters. On the way there Blagdon makes a very nice break in the journey.

The snowbee spectre pro is very nice it loves the xs snowbee lines - however as with all ten foot rods with a full day casting it can hurt my back and shoulder (This is no doubt down to my incorrect casting form) - the sage r8 is a dream rod - totally amazing and loves the rio perception line it’s a rod that can truly do everything - however at £1050 if bleeding well should do lol

Hi Chad, new subscriber here. Your comments are unfortunately well founded. Social media has spawned a breed of invasive species that will unlikely be eradicated any time soon. The sites that plagued, need careful consideration if a person really should expose one's self. Im really enjoying your 'back catalogue ' of videos, especially the fisheries i am planning to visit now I'm dusting off the flyfishing gear and throw a few casts in anger! Keep up the good work on the videos!

Think the issue lies in using these dated sites like facebook, usually how I find a fishery in the UK is just via google reviews. No offense but using facebook in 2024 just going to run into old bitter people. Completely different over here in the states, very community driven and positive. Thanks for the video :)

I agree Chad. Having said that, some of the venues, especially locally to me, they’re getting away with murder and taking peoples money when they either aren’t stocking, stocking half pound fish or not maintaining the weeds etc. there are some fantastic fisheries out there but there is two close to me that would be better off closing or letting someone else take over because they are being run in to the ground and are basically stealing peoples money knowing full well there is no fish stocked, to be caught. I could give you two fisheries names in particular that are a disgrace but what would I gain by naming them. I just don’t visit them anymore. I’d rather pay more to visit the fisheries that are run properly by responsible and passionate owners. It’s those guys that deserve our footfall and custom. It’s a two way street. We both need each other.

I think venting or voting with your wallet is totally fine - there are right ways and wrong ways to do things
@BobDouceАй бұрын
Agree 100%. My view is that social media could be part of the problem. Its very rare to see a fishless session, what we get are edited highlights of good days and so people assume that that is how fishing should be. Couple that with inflated egos and lack of real knowledge then some will get angry and start spouting negativity. I have been appalled at some of the behaviour and practices exhibited on social media and am very careful who I subscribe to. Liked and subscribed. Thank you. 🧔 👍

It's not just fly fishing mate. Match fishing, carp fishing, golf, photography.... Pretty much every interest I've ever had is disappointing when it comes to the Internet. I think a lot of people like to blame the rest of the world for their problems. Well every problem I've ever had has come from one of my decisions. It's a shame, social media should have been an amazing platform, no one accounted for the amount of sad people there are in the world!

The truth is a lot anglers slag a venue off because it’s not easy to catch fish 🐟 at certain times of the year, they’re often not prepared to try new things or educate themselves on other methods, the bottom line is sometimes fishing can be difficult and that’s the beauty of it, sometimes I blank sometimes I crack the code 🤷♂️, I can’t think of a time when I’ve done badly due to a lack of fish, I just fished like an idiot and got it completely wrong, don’t listen to these dickheads on FB & Twitter as they’ll always find something to moan about, as for anglers I meet whilst out fishing 🎣 I’ve never had a bad experience, a wide variety of characters that I really enjoy talking to.

Spot on Chad. When I was first introduced to fly fishing I asked my good friend and mentor why we bothered to fish at the height of summer when the fishing was hard, especially for a novice like me, his reply has stayed with me throughout: 'If we don't support them when things are tough, we'll end up losing them altogether. I had break for about 25 years and only started again after watching your videos. I've immensely enjoyed my fishing, even during this summer's lean time, and try to go as often as possible. So, thanks for your input Chad and keep sharing the positive.
