I have a hunch that she never really loved him, for her it was just a pr relationship, but he loved her, he was just used. I think that he realised that at one point but couldn't broke up because it was a contract clause, hence why he broke up with her right after leaving the band. You can see clearly by their reaction after the break up, she used the break up to make a break up song( their most famous beside the one with Nicky), while he was the bigger person, and didn't involve in the scandal she started. I don't have anything with her and I'm happy for her and Alex, and I think she has the most beautiful little lad, but I hope she knows that he is the main reason her band worked, yes, they are talented and deserved to be big, but it would've take time without zayn.
