The DS1 was never made to be used on it's own with a clean amp. Always with a dirty amp or pedal before it!

I'm doing same combination of distortion and overdrive, mate. Love it. I made a little mod to DS-1, I removed D4 diode. It made the pedal way more loud than stock unit. My next mod will be changing one of the capacitors to give ds-1 more mids.
@PhilipJoyceMusician
@PhilipJoyceMusician 2 ай бұрын
That sounds like a good mod to make. The ds1 definitely lacks a little volume

@user-de8ll9gy9p 2 ай бұрын
@@PhilipJoyceMusician if your version is not SMT circuit board, then it's super easy. Some suggest removing both diodes D4 and D5, but it steals lots of gain from pedal, so one of them is enough. Try it out by unsoldering one of the diode's legs, so it's easy to put it back in case if you need it.

Thanks for this. I am considering picking one of these up. But it does seem kinda useless as a feature no? It just overrides the 5 way, but has a bit more versatility if I am understanding correctly.
@PhilipJoyceMusician
@PhilipJoyceMusician 2 ай бұрын
Its definitely not useless , it increases the pickup configuration options . Yes the mini switches override the 5 way, but you can just use the 5 way . You could pretty much achieve the same options if they had installed a neck on switch and a coil split for the bridge . It was a cool and useful system just a little inconvenient for live use. Great for recording though. So many tones available from one guitar . I sold mine but i would love to pick one up again.

you have to pull down the distortion to get Allan's lead ground.

I have this pedal as my live backup. I have spent a lot of money on preamps in the past. But this £30 pedal does it's job perfectly. I can plug my pedals in and it just works.

Hej Mate, thanks for the video explaining the micro switches: that guitar is far better than Jem. Completely do not understand why Ibanez went into cooperation with that idiot in 1987, should continue Pro Line instead. Sad truth: people buy with their eyes and famous names behind.
@PhilipJoyceMusician
@PhilipJoyceMusician 7 ай бұрын
Well I can't agree with that. I think Steve's relationship with Ibanez and the subsequent instruments. The Jem and the RG which was a direct off shoot was the single most important business decision they ever made. But I do agree they should reissue or update the proline. They were very cool guitars
