My wife of 20 years, we met in high-school, walked out on our marriage a few weeks ago. I had a life changing event happen in my life about a decade ago and I made a decision there that I wasn't willing to sacrifice myself or my time to anything that didn't bring me happiness or that was for our martial benefit. At some point she decided we needed to travel the world. She insisted I got a job making more money, we don't have kids, I did t want to give up the small mowing business I had. She hated it because it didn't make a lot of money and a lot of it was for charity cases, older single people on fixed incomes. Basically those houses I broke even on, but I did it cause I love helping people and it was a good thing to do. I came home and all her stuff was gone and there was a 2 page letter on the table. 20 years distilled down to 2 pieces of legal pad. That being said it would seem to me this so g was written for my exact situation. My wife started making more money than me and got tempted by worldly things. Now I'm here with this spade filling in the holes She left.

I'm struggling a lot with scrupulosity, I just discovered this song, and it made me cry my eyes out. I don't know if it was the intent behind it or not, but for me, it's perfectly and hauntingly beautifully singing of the feeling of it. Of the dread and fear of having something that's supposed to comfort you be turned into something looming over you near constantly and clawing at your heart and mind like a rabid dog.

Surprisingly, what I think of when I listen to this is Bluestar & Fireheart, during the times before her death when Bluestar had lost all her faith. Though it could truly fit any situation that's similar, and a variety of others.

This song reminds me of a very difficult situation I'm currently in, in which I'm being targeted by my narcissistic ex. She left me in a dark place every so often when I still trusted her, and then came back when she needed to supply with my "support". But even though she's still trying to break me down I hold onto my hope. I pray for her in humility to help herself.
