When I started playing breakout was already going so I had no idea about anything and I still remember about insertion thinking "damn this is a brand new game not the usual cs but with better graphic" That map played so differently from the others, if they would add it back, Im sure people would love it as its not the usual brainless ct rush into the gunfire but a more stealthy slow gameplay. I mean I loved assault, that was my childhood map in 1.6 but insertion is on a different level.

As a kid, the very first map I've ever played CS on is dust 1, back in 1.6 eara. So I'm sad it got removed. And considering your opinion on the port map on CS source, I disagree. It's also one of my favorite map to play around as a kid, especially playing around in the water part.

i played on his 1.6 and CSNserver as a kid (rock's hideout 4), i still miss it sometimes. westwood was pistols (and shotguns?) only and that helped alot with the balance. btw i played his maps also on 1.5 but i was too small to comprehend they were custom maps

oh another thing, we would do map tests with Nathaniel himself. It was a lot of fun but sometimes the map just wouldnt work out or there'd be drama like with the blahhh secret room.

One thing I really miss from the early CS:GO version is the curved walls in some areas. Taking or defending catwalk was a lot more interesting with the rounded corners.

as much as i hate the maps, i just wish they kept the maps on newer version of cs. i get that people might not even play on the maps, but having the option to be able to play it when you want it is nice.

cs_mansion was the very first map in counter-strike back in the betas, later remade into cs_estate. It surely deserves a mention. As do: Backalley 747 Militia

Port and Compound seem more like maps meant for HL2 than CS. Seems like someone at Valve, or Turtle Rock, was fiddling around experimenting with the default assets. Port is a fun idea, but an awful experience. Oh, and the bomb can just be tossed off the edge. Best Part.

I remember playing compund back in when I was 10 or 11 (11-12 years go) and a lot of people were actually using smgs and ARs but ofc there were people with a scout or awp on the bridge or in the buildings. I was running around with a glock though, it was so much fun.
