In my area of southern Colorado out of La Veta the lions have increased in number a bunch. It's not unusual to see lions in the middle of the day now and not just one at a time. I wish a few would move into the town of La Veta to get rid of the mule deer problem. The deer are like cloven hooved rats. Even though they are legally hunted the rules of the hunt are very complex. It's not even legal to get a license to hunt one unless you take part in a class and pass it.

Hi, I know this is video is pretty old-but I have a question, if you’re willing! Moved to CO last year & I have been fascinated by these animals, learning all I can about them. Regarding male mountain lion relocations-adult males have large territories & are very territorial, and will kill other ones who wander into the vicinity-does CPW utilize the GPS data from the collared/tracked ones to try & avoid placing males being relocated into the territory of other adult males? I know CPW is doing great work, trying their best to preserve both human and lion life in challenging circumstances (non-aggressive, but perhaps overly-comfortable mountain lions usually being the candidates for such relocations.) Nature is what it is and arguably, it’s still giving them a chance vs. instant euthanasia… just wonder if such a method is even possible, let alone utilized. with their territories being so large, their population being all over the state, at least the released wolf GPS collars having a location-reporting delay and land just being inherently finite, I’m sure it’s a difficult issue and so in no way would I react poorly or judge if the answer is simply “we take them to a remote area far outside where they were taken from and wish them well, all territorial conflict questions aside.” I know they try not to intervene with relocations unless they feel it’s necessary, and it’s still an attempt at non-lethal measures and them remaining in the wild, as is ideal (and plenty of jurisdictions around the country probably wouldn’t even bother with that effort.) Just seems like it’s at least plausible that with as much research as CPW has done on it’s lions, the collar data etc. that it may actually be more intricate and have additional considerations such as these than a layman may realize. And some of us geeks wanna know more, if there is more lol. Thanks for any information you may have to offer! Fascinating video. Love the bean-bag hazing haha

Awesome video as i really love nature and all it’s animals. Here in western Canada these cats are 220lbs much bigger than in the warmers US. I also think of the cats in California and they are smaller but still able to kill a grown man in excellent shape. Yikes.

Mountain lions are big gentle house cats. If you rub their bellies they'll love you forever. Give it a try if you come across one. Darwin wants you too.

I can’t find a video at water level which leads me to believe not as many fish survive the drop as they claim. If biologists in scuba gear have observed it they could’ve filmed it.

I wish we had that too. We had planned to try that in late summer of 2022, but it just didn’t work out that year. There was a study years ago in Utah that estimated a survival rate in 90-percent range. Something more up-to-date and showing it would be helpful to help people understand.

It was VERY WRONG to simply record this, & not interfere to save the domestic cat! Yes, "it's nature," but the Puma does not need to be eating Felis Catus. I can tell you without a doubt, this will have karmic consequence.

First, absurd title. Mountain Lion VERSUS house cat; ridiculous! Second, if it is in fact a house cat, SHAME on the people who didn't keep it in the house. Now, Mrs Lame Brain, what would I do? Yell, act in.a threatening manner, grab a branch a swat the Puma, whatever I could do. OBVIOUSLY! In other words, THE RIGHT THING! Big cats don't need to be eating little cats.

@@jw3readsIt is stronger than humans and can fight faster and better. It could get yourself hurt badly if you attack the lion - even with a knife. Maybe I would also attack out of protection instinct if it was my cat but it would not be wise.
