Ohhhhh, this is such a beautiful song. I sang this song when I was in Sixth Grade. There were hundreds of students there. It was a talent show sponsored by the school district. I won first place. I will never forget that day and this beautiful song. (David, Texas, USA)

I loved this, it was my first anime and I grew up with it. It’s just a bummer that the dub was rough (especially with this song), but the Japanese version said something completely different. Still, this is nostalgic.

The original was even worse. Once she received her legs, every step she takes feels like walking on knives. There is a bit of a happy ending when she becomes a daughter of the air and earns a soul to enter heaven.

Is this track available for purchase anywhere? I've been lucky recently in finding the soundtracks for the Russian Live Action and the Czechoslovakian Live Action Little Mermaid movies on iTunes, but I cant seem to locate the soundtracks for this movie (which I adore) and the Reader's Digest version. These are my top 4 favorite renditions of this masterpiece of a fairytale and the music is part of the magic.

That’s what’s beautiful though. It’s that tear jerker ending . She made a mistake, gambling her life, hoping the prince will love her. And it seems he did, but he felt he had to marry the girl that found him at the beach who he thought was his rescuer. It sucks when he has that flashback realizing marina was the one all along and his heart broke just as marinas did. It’s different because we’ve all been there. Heartbreak that cuts us right to the bone where we just don’t want to even live anymore. But with time, wounds heal. Kinda. Sorta. Maybe not completely, but you just learn to move on with your life.

This version of the story is so twisted and, dark but that voice ugh it's so hypnotizing that just draws you into liking it damn now i heard this as a kid a few times, but hearing it again right now at 20 just made me cringe it's so nostalgic 2019 anybody :'(

The original story is even more twisted than this. This version is sugar-coated. 1) the original story she feels like she's walking on knives with every step she takes. 2) the Prince is an arrogant arse.

The fact the prince actually knows in the end it was her all along give this an even more dark and hurtful impact though, just imagine how he felt knowing the person he loves and wished the most was by his side and he didn't notice and now it's too late. It's like your heart breaks in two, for Marina and the prince.
