$$$ It took them 90 minutes to go from Tampa to St . Pete, and it required a crew change in Tampa, so you paid a crew for 3 hours (over and back) of running and they get paid a full day.

I also had no idea that Amtrak ran this line, I used to live right next to the tracks as a kid over 20 years ago. I’m just now doing RR research and it’s crazy to know that f40s were passing so close to my street that many years ago

I'm sure it's a bit of a rush when running at speed through several crossings with traffic all stopped and everyone is looking at you, some smiling, some pointing with a finger :).

Wow the gates here go down so soon to the passing. On Long Island NY the gates go down way earlier, so people wait an extra 30 seconds to a minute before it passes.

I’ve been working under a rail bridge out by abo canyon south of Belen and this freight trains are something else when it’s passing by 5 feet from your head bowing the bridge.

It's kinda funny, I've been crazy into trains since I was a kid... but it's like there's a switch inside me that flicks between "railfan" and "non-railfan." So if I'm in a hurry somewhere and get stopped, it switches pretty hard to "non-railfan." But that's probably the only time it ever does

I am a railway conductor. Everytime I see/hear a train when I'm off duty, I listen for the correct train horn sequence that's used when going over a crossing. For those who don't know, it's LONG,LONG,SHORT,LONG (Over the crossing). This train did it correctly.

@@ENCHANTMEN_ A lot do push it randomly. However, the correct was is that LLSL. If an engineer blows it randomly on their check ride, they'll most definitely get docked. However, that doesn't stop them from doing it at literally any other point

In the uk we call it A "Push-Pull" so when the engine gets to the end of the line the driver will go to the brake coach which will have special controlls to move the engines backwards "Busy Going Backwards" You can say.

I fully acknowledge that trains are THE superior transportation method, but man they just do nothing for me haha. 0 interest 😄. maybe that's just cause I live in Portland and it's hard to not develop an incandescent rage when you get stuck for literal HOURSSSS when the same train of unholy length blocks seemingly every intersection in the city and sits there without moving for so long that I think entire civilizations form and then crumble in the time it takes them to ??? idk what they're doing lmao. just chillin' I guess😄.

I am not a rail fan. With that being said, sometimes when I see the crossing gates come down, and the red lights flash, I start making bell and horn noises in my truck.
