Cool video! I had an 05 XRS from brand new for 10.5 years. One of the most difficult manual cars I've ever owned, took me forever to get a smooth start, and then first to second. I've accidentally engaged reverse a couple of times with the factory shifter by rushing it, and then hearing the beeping, haha. I have a 2016 Mustang GT now with the 3.73 ratio. It has an MGW shifter so you have to push down into reverse (and with the factory you pulled a collar UP). Now there's no way to mistake reverse! It's also crazy how much easier this car is to drive with the bigger motor. It's almost impossible to stall lol.

I have a Ford Taurus 07 with 85k miles that has the Ford Vulcan engine in it. I think it's rated for 300k miles, very low maintainence. So, no need for a new vehicle. Runs great. Never buy a new car.

PS - I have a 2004 and a 2005 Cruiser, both manual transmissions with 5 speeds, neither have the shift pattern your car does. My reverse on both cars is lower right. Reading comments it sounds like your shift pattern is specific to turbo models (neither of my PT’s are turbocharged).

I have twice been the proud owner of a PT Cruiser CRD (Mercedes diesel engine and manual transmission). Here in Europe, there was never the scorn and ridicule that there was in the USA, it was always seen as a hip family car for young people. And so in 2005 we bought our diesel with the same equipment and color as yours. We occasionally used the table to change our children's diapers when we were traveling, and in the middle position, with the back seat and passenger seat folded down, it creates a flat loading area right up to the front. So a quick trip to Ikea was no problem. And the diesel has almost as much torque as the GT, but its peak between 1600 and 3000 rpm.Rust is its biggest enemy and even torn off (rusty) door handles and tailgate openers are not uncommon.

I went with the Mishimoto version of the Induction Hose Kit as it was on sale and I didn't have to deal with evap hose on my 2016. Call me disappointed, as my butt dyno didn't feel any difference. Maybe it makes more of a difference on Stage 2, but at the time I was on stage 1. The money I spent would've been better spent on a custom tune.

Thank you for your videos. God bless you, too. I recommend blurring out anything identifiable, like license plates, in videos. I recently inherited an '06 PT Cruiser. There's what looks like a pedal in the left front on the floor. What is that for? Thank you.
@gray25xt
@gray25xt 18 күн бұрын
It's a 5 speed so there is a clutch pedal and a dead pedal to rest your left foot when not clutching. I'm not worried about people seeing my license plate, thousands see it every day in parking lots and on the roads, this is an unreasonable fear. .02.

Coasting actually makes the car less efficient
@rorri2372
@rorri2372 Ай бұрын
And more dangerous
@gray25xt
@gray25xt Ай бұрын
@@rorri2372 there’s nothing dangerous as long as you apply throttle when necessary. Coasting only adds efficiency. It drops RPMs to a minimal state which means less combustion which means more efficiency. For example, in the insight, you will normally hover around 2000 RPMs. With the car in neutral and coasting that drops to about 900 RPMs. Here’s how an engine works, RPMs or revolutions per minute is an empirical measure of how much gasoline is being combusted to produce horsepower, and therefore movement. Less revolutions means less combustion, which means less gasoline being used, which means more efficiency. Much much more efficient to coast.

A few months ago i was faced with the decision of replacing the NiMh battery pack in my prius and I first came to know of John from his analysis/critique of another Lithium "upgrade" (N3xcell) for the Toyota prius. Thankfully these n3xcells were not available and i went the route of installing brand new NiMh cells as the vehicle (and battery management system) was designed for. He is doing the world a service by making people aware of a dangerous product. He has used his engineering knowledge to develop a safe solution to modernize and improve a 25 year old automobile. Keep up the work and dont let the detractors/echo chamber at pr1uschat deter you from exploring the Toyota hybrid space.

The issue was the radiator being far from the engine. If the fan malfunctioned, the engine would not be cooled from air blasting through a front grill, and it would overheat and often caught fire. The V6 stayed cooler when this occured.

Cool Car! I have a 2005 GT I have it for 15 years now and I have put over 100K on it. I am a mechanic, so mine is mechanically sound. These cars can be expensive but you are mostly paying for labor. It is tough and challenging to work on. The plus is parts are cheap. Always check Rock Auto closeouts!! They are practically giving parts away for this car! Top tip- anytime you buy from Rock Auto, always buy wiper blades. Buy them by size, look up different cars, it does not have to be your model car, just look for the same length. I have seen them priced as low as $2!! Not $15 or more each in a store!
