Went through all the technical stuff. Once and for all, how much horsepower? Tyia.
@UPRailfan5 күн бұрын
According to the internet it still has 4000 horsepower but I don't think that much power is going to the wheels since I believe the MACH's only have four axles driven

@CurtBergStillLoves2PlayTrainsАй бұрын
Hey Josiah, nice work. The second train was unique. No UP power plus the ditch lights weren't working on the lead NS unit followed by the CSX. Also, any ideas why some commuter trains are double headed when the same amount of cars are led by only a single unit on other consists. Probably something to do with how much HP between older and newer models? Maybe you know the answer to that question.
@UPRailfanАй бұрын
The ditchlights were working actually, maybe a bit hard to see since the train was going into the sun. And I think it's for a variety of reasons that they doublehead on occasion, one being that they can run the head end power off one engine to power the train and push the train with the other engine.

Those sd70mach locomotives are wild looking. Nice catch man. 👍👍👍 I still prefer the f40ph since those are my favorite locomotives still around in North America and they’re really reliable workhorses still on various commuter systems in the U.S. too. Better than buying cheap siemens crap, like sc-42s and sc-44s. I guess emd products work better for metra, good choice I like those engines they’re more reliable and better than those crappy unreliable siemens locos, which are pieces of junk in my opinion.
@UPRailfan2 ай бұрын
The original F40PH was probably Metra’s best locomotive out of their entire fleet, reliable and it has good acceleration unlike many of their engines now.
