This video gave me hope to do my own DIY hunt. I truly enjoyed the honesty and liveliness of the video. The fun and memories that were made. is it possible to send me some info thru this reply for how you started and where you found some of the data and info that you used to book and fly this hunt. I am also researching and looking around, but any help would be so appreciated! God bless and I can't wait to see more adventures form you all

I just read this entire thread, and it amazes me how uninformed some people are and they don't understand that wolves need to be managed ! several people have noted "that nature will balance itself out" not true, the wolves WILL NOT reduce their numbers until they have killed off EVERY , Moose, Elk , mule deer, whitetail deer, antelope , coyotes, rabbit , turkeys and every other living animal is gone.. every adult wolf will have 6-10 pups every spring , there is nothing controlling their population at all. The lack of management of one species could make every other animal EXTINCT ! then what ? it's too late, because people thought they could manage wildlife with their emotions instead of their brains.. it is literally that simple..

Thanks for showing us what happens when one is not fully prepared for a hunt in Alaska. It is super important to test and use equipment before going on such a hunt. I actually only watched halfway because your camera up to that point has never shown us what you were shooting at. The early caribou shot looked reenacted.

Congratulations on your successful hunting trip . Absolutely the best Caribou hunting video I’ve watched. Today is the second time I’ve watched this video entirely. Definitely one of my biggest concerns is if I’ll be able to sleep well in Grizzly Country. You guys sure have a Wonderful Video of your hunting trip. Keep on keeping on and Stay Safe !

Congratulations on your Bear . What caliber of rifle were you using and optics ? How’d your Kuiu gear hold up ? What didn’t you bring on your hunt that you wish you would have bought ? We’re planning a hunt this year . Keep on keeping on and Stay Safe !

Thanks! I used a Christensen 300 PRC with a Leupold VX-6HD 4-24. I'm a big fan of the Leupold optics and the custom dial system. I have them on all of my rifles and I've never had any sort of an issue. The 300 PRC performed well and I didn't require a follow-up shot, but I had some serious concerns regarding ammo leading up to the hunt. I'd be happy to share more if you're curious. The Kuiu gear is top notch. I would highly recommend their rain gear. I have the Kutana Storm Shell and love it. Don't buy it full price - they have some sort of a sale on it pretty much every quarter. There were definitely things that we didn't have that we wished we would have, but this hunt was outfitted so there wasn't much choice in camp gear. I would have had a very different setup on a DIY. What is your upcoming hunt? I've done DIY and have a lot of suggestions. I also have a DIY moose hunt in AK coming up this fall that I'm planning for.

@@toddb5289 We’re doing a Caribou hunt. I just got a Leupold VX5 with cds, I’m having trouble finding ammo. I use federal premium, Barnes TSX 180, I do have a lot of Kuiu stuff, and yes I wait for the sales. I got the Yukon rain gear. Thanks for sharing your experience and information. Stay Safe !

Why didn’t you move closer to the trees?🧙🏽‍♂️🧙🏽‍♂️
@toddb5289

When we first spotted the bear, we were elevated (maybe only a couple hundred feet) on a hill. He was at the bottom of the hill on the backside of a group of alders. As we moved down the hill and lost elevation, we could only get so close before we started to lose sight of him because of the alders. The closest we could get while still having a clear view of his body was ~225 yards. At that point, the only option was a standing shot in open terrain with nothing to rest on. My guide even offered his back as a rest, but I wasn't comfortable taking that shot. We moved laterally hoping for a better setup and that was when he went into the alders and popped back out on our side of them.

100% the predator reduction will help the herd bounce back. All the other reasons why they have gone down in populations are out of the scope of management. Glad to see an agency use the tools they have!!

Wolves have decimated deer elk and moose in many areas in the US and Canada. There is 90 to 100 percent loss in some of these areas. They kill livestock and pets. 15 to 20 years ago there was a great balance. Wolf populations were much lower than now . Probably 80 percent or more. Every animal was thriving. Now there is very few animals of any kind. And for what? What did this get us? Businesses have lost out on a lot of money. Empty motels and cabins . Bars and restaurants losing money. For what? You study documentaries that are written by onesided opinionists who only care about wolves. They don't give a shit about other animals or how this stupidity effects people. Whether you like it or not people manage the animals. Not wolves. Wolves will kill every last animal they can. They do not manage their territory. We have hardly any animals in Northern Wisconsin and Minnesota. And what is the point of this ? Now there isnt much of anything up here in the woods. So stupid. The average person is being lied to about what wolves do. They kill everything they can . They are doing what they are created for. But, they need to be managed. The population needs to remain low. Everything will get back to normal if you cut the population down. There should be no wolves in farming areas .

Lol, I liked your strategic plans for sleeping in a grizzly area. However, I do suggest installing a portable electric bear fence. Now another question came up: ● how far was that caribou shot? ● if you could only make it part way before you needed a break? ● mabe a gear review on stuff other that the sitka game bag? ● GUess non of you had a grizzly license? But yeah, drunk on alcohol & sleeping pills help you not to wake while your buddies are eaten; also works for one or two nights at least! Meh, that might be -proportionate to how many acquaintances you have left? ● so any N way what gun caliber & how far was that shot x2 in Rudolf?

Love your channel & your odd sense of humor, but your girls and wife rose is the best. Parents that hunt together, stay together, and the opportunities that in you instill in the girls are most excellent. As they grow up knowing and appreciating nature. I tip my hat to you & your good wife Rose. I do have a question: ● do either of you have a guide license? ● in the future, would you or Rose & maybe eventually the kids consider guiding private hunts for an outfitter? I''m sure there'd be room if the girls were interested in other aspects (eg. either digital documentation, editing, cooking and food handling, horse wrangling, or even getting a pilots license. I'm just curious cause our next generations of outdoor individuals and related businesses will be our most important.
