-15,0,+12,+24 : polyrhythmic beat -12,0,0,+12 : fast even beat -12,0,+12,+20 : high octave overtone buzz, polyrhythmic beat -10,0,+10,+15 : phaser effect -8,0,0,+10 : slow even dual beat My personal preference is first for -8,0,0,+10, then -12,0,0,+12, though i generally prefer a pretty dry sound. -15,0,+12,+24 is too wide for my tastes, but still sounds okay. -12,0,+12,+20 has an off-putting overtone in my ears, and -10,0,+10,+15 has a weird phaser effect, though both of those might be artifacts of the KZbin audio format, or my headphones.

These Castagnari accordions are beautiful. Even with the stops set for only the single middle reeds, it sounds amazingly bold and clear. By the way, do you have any idea about the alternative "GC Marimon" and "GC Norwegian-Swedish System" tunings that Castagnari offers? I've been asking around and I'm still at a loss for an explanation as to the advantages of these systems over the standard GC. Even if you don't know, thanks for sharing this video; it's great to get a sample of what the 1914 sounds like. 👍🪗

Hello Scott, I have been given one of these and don't have experience with melodeons. The sound is lovely but there is a smell of mould/mildew from long storage without playing. Please could you tell me the correct way to get inside the melodeon? I don't see any obvious screws to release the bellows. Thanks!

The chords sound amazing tuned like that! Very clever ideia for this kind of diatonic instruments.

Mervar set the standard for button boxes in the U.S. Mikus would later became a maker and popularized the "chicklet" buttons. If I recall, he married Mervar's daughter - but I may be mixed-up on that.

I am restoring one just like the one your video😂! It plays well I usually play a B/C box, so there is a bit of learning curve! Any idea on date? Can’t find a serial number, metal tag on outside say”Steel Reeds, Made in Germany.” The bottom feet pivot out on a screw.
