I’ve always loved The Alarm since the 80’s when a good friend’s older brother had the cassette. Man the good ole days!

Gosh. Discovered in 2002 and rediscovered in 2022. Forgot how good it was. This track was above average in that period. Perfect Reni-like played drums, heavy bass, wah-wah guitar, and energetic vocals. 1/3 Oasis, 1/3 Stones Roses, 1/3 Kasabian. Everything was there for a significant breakthrough. Unfortunately, the band led by Simon Tong (Ex-Verve) disbanded quickly. A loss for pop music.

Glad to hear again after 02. The manc bands I like are amplifier the Smiths and oceansizs plus these guys. I preferred the shining over stone roses oasis etc because they had a raw more aggressive sound. Singer had a maliable voice who could have changed to make less like our kid. I don't have an issue with bands sounding like other bands but this gives me vibes of Kevin and Perry go large. There was some spiritualized organ vibes which would have really changed their feel. Great production singer could add a touch of distortion to his voice if he wanted that oasis tone was surprised by the amount of chilled out songs could have done with another fast tune. I'm going to search more manc bands because they grow on trees. 8/10.

There are so many good memories and feelings from this song. Going from teen angst to adulthood, seeing dreams come true for some and others fade into normal for others, friendships get stronger or stay where they are, such a brilliant piece. The boys from Wales rock on today like then and I'd love to see it, but I doubt they ever get to the States these days. I'd go, though. I had the Strength picture disk back then.

The live parts to this were filmed at The Royal Court Liverpool. This was the closest venue to North Wales so there were a load of Welsh fans on coaches that went to this gig. I was there and rememeber the standing area being a flood of welsh flags

OMG I bought both from Rock Candy. I got the original Big Prize on cassette for my 13th birthday. I will have to say it's my favorite album of the 80s. As far as Zebra goes I lost interest because I thought No Tellin Lies wasn't very good. My loss. 3.V is a masterpiece! Every song stands on its own. I'm a 13 year old fanboy for it!

Prior to the release of Strength, in May '85, we saw them, in a tiny club in Chippenham, Wiltshire. They showcased the upcoming album. Hearing those tracks live, for the first time, sung with such passion, simply blew me away. Absolute reality indeed...

The Alarm were U2 “lite”, they had their moments, such as this one here, GREAT tune. They were very enthusiastic in everything they did, and had a great look. All the pieces were there, they just couldn’t sustain it. Shame. Some really good songs, just not enough of em.
