Hello gamer, thanks for giving my friends WAD an incredibly detailed review. I wrote the story text in this wad that encapsulated the twisted, and deranged mind state that Machete Guy went through during the project. Just wanted to reach out and thank you for taking a look at this WAD especially since story and narrative are of very little importance when it comes to DOOM.

No way, nice going! The story text screens were fun, and made for some fun transitions in this video. Thanks for dropping by.

Honestly, I kind of love map 27 (red hot)'s midi the map is extremely cramped combined with the dark red and black textures gives you the feeling of almost being in a furnace. Personally I think the strange midi ads to this, because every time I hear it, it creates a strange burning feeling in my brain, as if the midi is meant to make you feel (red) hot. Almost like you're burning to death in a hot furnace of hell.

So as it turns out, Requiem MAP 20, was the OG Map 26 for Demonfear (he ended up replacing the map alongside his Map’s 27 and 28 (here being Map’s 26 and 25) with new ones later when he compiled the Demonfear episodes together in 2000 for his Megawad. In other words, these 3 unused for their original purpose versions of Demonfear 6 were a case of what could’ve been for that wad.

Master levels sucks just because it's not continuous. I bought it when it was new and I was so disappointed. It's like it's intended for death match or something, but I didn't know anyone who had internet at the time, so that wasn't really a thing.

Just so you know MtPain, there's an April Fools joke WAD from a few years back called "Sunder for People who don't have time to play Sunder". Maybe that would be an easy April fools episode if you don't feel like going the whole hog for the next one. To be honest, as the maps in that set went on, I was still quite impressed at how they were able to capture the essence of Sunder in such few monsters and time taken. It's impressive enough on it's own and deserves more of a spotlight than as an April Fools joke.

Going Down and a new turbo remaster/remake/rebalance/thing being released on Id's featured list so that it can be played on the Switch is not something I imagined ever happening, but it might make up for all of 2024.

Probably my favorite element of Turbo, Map 30 is massively expanded with its outdoor area, so if you no clip out, there are some bonus megaspheres and an alternate exit.

This series is great, can’t believe I only just found this! You should do Strain, it’s a 32-level megawad made in 1997 by Alpha Dog Alliance. Very obscure but it gives me lots of nostalgia since I played it a long time ago and it also features some Mark Klem songs too!

Alas, Radiohead isn't any more interesting to me in midi form than the real thing. I guess them and I are not meant for mutual understanding. To be honest I also blame them for the flood of "rock music, except without any rock" that plagued the 2000s and 2010s. As for this WAD, errr, no thanks. Not only does it look like torture, but to quote one of my favorite KZbinrs... post-modern is old hat.

This review makes me appreciate playing more classic FPS than just Doom. Not saying this to trash Down the Drain, but there are so many great custom campaigns for other classic FPS like Blood, Quake, and Half-Life that are also experimental with their textures, level design, and other elements. It's like, there are only so many JPCPs or Speed of Dooms out there for Doom, but I can find those for other classic FPS I love too.

Funny thing, you never see people who do high-level gameplay (well) saying anything to this effect. Unless it's a rule for a specific challenge, people who complain about save scumming have never challenged themselves enough to get to the point of needing it.

Second comment on this video, and I just finished map 15. I ended up damning myself by wasting the invuln, and ended up saving over my only save slot after it ran out, forcing me to restart from a pistol start. Yes, despite playing sequentially, I screwed up so badly in the search for the secret exit that I had to restart pistol only. Now to play through the rest of this fever dream of a wad before watching the rest of the video. Edit: I could not finish map 31. I got to the outer 4 sections (the ones with the barons, mancubi, arachnotrons, and cybie-cybes), and ran out of available ammo. In a desperate attempt to get infighting to start, I awakened every last arch-vile by accident, and was only able to make it to the archnotron room BFG before I ended up causing so much extra monster respawning (with chaingunners being a big one) that the whole map got flooded with so much extra monster crap that I had to use IDDQD to even desperately push my way through everything, get enough ammo from the mancubus and cyberdemon rooms (without getting splattered in 1/8 of a second flat), and then clear another path to the exit where I had to maneuver up those stupid platforms before a flood of monsters entered the room and block me with their infinitely tall hitboxes. And even then, I still have no idea how to even reach map 32.

I've completed two megawads in a row that perceptibly take a lot of inspiration from TNT: Evilution: Good Morning Phobos and TNT: Revilution respectively. And I really enjoyed both of them. It's nice to see that TNT still influences mappers in a really positive way and that there are mappers whose eyes are open to what's worth passing on from the original source. To me personally, I think, Map12: Transduction and Map22: Pharaoh's Claim gave the greatest impression. The former genuinely scared me; while the latter astounded me with its elaborate and well crafted secret system. I really really like it when the secrets in a map are, on the one hand, "accessible," that is, not ridiculously obscure, and on the other hand, more than just small nooks and niches that contain a certain amount of loot, and that's all. Pharaoh's Claim really outdid itself with its secret system, I loved to discover it all. I think it bestows a map with a great deal of atmosphere when the secrets are also meticulously crafted, because it gives you the feeling that you're not just on a map, but in a world that spreads broader than the single map you're actually on. So I was really stunned by Map22. Anyway, Maps20 to 22 are an excellent roll in TNTR. I also agree that the boss fight is kinda redeeming. I mean, I shouted and cursed a lot when I tried to solve the "puzzle" of the boss, but when I understood it and finished the fight, I really felt that the final map is quite okay. So, thank you for suggesting TNTR, it was really-really worth the play.
