Really awesome job man! I have the sub37 and have been on the fence about getting the rd8 for a while, are you still happy with it and experiencing no/minor bugs?
@MarcSterlingMusic4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I think the sub37 and rd8 are an amazing combo! So far, with the way I use it, I haven’t had any major bugs with the rd8. I usually sequence it from an external source and it’s been rock solid. I notice that when I tried to use it as a tempo master, the non would drift by 1 either way.

Cool. How many bars or minutes can you record these layered loops? Have you run into any memory issues or problems with the software? The X has been on my list for a while, but I make more linear style music, but do a lot of looping stuff too.
@MarcSterlingMusic4 жыл бұрын
Wooden Penny I’m using it in controller mode with the software so my recording time is pretty much unlimited. The software and workflow take a little getting used to, especially if you’re used to a more linear workflow. Once you get the hang of it, it makes being spontaneously creative very easy.

Really nice, what strings are you using? Standard tuning?

Thanks!!! I believe these are D'adarrio light gauge strings and yes, standard tuning. I usually use Sadowsky blue labels.

Sounds amazing. Is it just at 5'40" or so where you use the Xero? All sounds before that are just from the Cubic? It's super synthy as well as octavey. Great playing btw!!

@MarcSterlingMusic11 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I'm glad you like the effect! This is a pretty good example of the sound I use live, when I'm going for the "synthy" thing. For this video, everything except the Polytope was in the loop of the Wonderlove. The Polytope was after the Wonderlove in the chain.
@bigbeatnut11 жыл бұрын
Brilliant Bass synth effect ! Which of those pedals (if any) were in the send/receive loop of the wonderlove, and which were simply before or after ?

Thanks a lot, man!!! I've used a bunch of stuff for envelopes and fuzzes. Right now I use an IE Xerograph and Source Audio filters in addition to the wonderlove.
@Yaksonator11 жыл бұрын
I listened to this video a bunch for reviews on those pedals, but I never made it to the end. Really good! Probably the most convincing synth time I've heard. Do you use anything else fort he envelope for this type of sound? Again really great!
@MarcSterlingMusic11 жыл бұрын
I really don't remember exactly. I was listening to some old Funkadelic (probably Maggot Brain by the sound of it), and I just sat down and cut it off the cuff. Does it sound familiar to you?

Thanks, this means a lot to me. I use these sounds with my band, and sometimes I would rather just get a synth. However, I really like being able to pull off a semi-convincing synth tone while playing bass.

I play synth, and these are some pretty convincing synth tones! The Polytope gives the tone a good '80s Harold Faltermeyer feel. I actually like the fact that these pedal combos don't sound harsh or over-the-top. They sound usable in most real world settings, instead of sounding like gimmicky, novelty stuff. And that Wonderlove - it's sounds like what I wanted the GRs and Proton to sound like. Spencer really put it together with this one!
