You deserve to loose that buck. You decide to use your grunt call after you spook him and he runs away, what a dumbass. You could have brought him in on a string & killed that deer. He was relaxed. He didn't even hear those stupid noises you made at first, until you made that ridiculously sounding snort wheeze which sent him into the next County.. If you used your grunt call instead of your mouth one nice grunt immediately after he stopped walking would have brought him right in. Wow... Thats 101 shit

After my last shot on a cap and ball, I run a saturated patch on both sides along with a dry both sides... Hot water down the barrel with a dry patch both sides along with a saturated patch both sides... Run a brush with solvent up and down 4-5 times, and then a dry patch on the brush both sides and one more dry both sides on the ramrod... Wipe the flash channel and inside it clean with a paper towel while the hot water still has it broke up and I wipe the nipple clean and set it in T-17 solvent... Wipe it clean and oil the threads of it and put it back together... Flip the patches to the opposite side so you use 1/2 next time...

John, a simple but helpful tip while carrying your camera in your pocket during the winter, slip a hand warmer in your pocket as well, it will keep the battery charge stabilized and stave off moisture. As the handwarmers work from exothermic reaction, they are absolutely safe to be with your camera. Best to you.

Get off the bucket.. and hunt at different places.. well I hunt at the same place every year..lol .. This guy is funny.. I like his channel.. but he keeps hunting on a private property thinking that he’s an expert Hunter.. I wouldn’t be surprised if he has a couple feeders on his property also.. but if you watch this channel for years, you know, only family and friends hunt his property and I never really see him hunt public land.. come on John just like you said get off the bucket.. well get off private and take us to public land and see how your techniques work.. You can’t be a lazy hunter that’s what you said. You gotta be in shape.. so get out on public and give us some different content.

If someone really wants to learn more on hunting the elusive Pennsylvania whitetail deer, i would suggest you start at the very beginning of your channel and start applying all this information while you are hunting. I thank you for everything you have taught me, i am a better hunter, now than i ever was, because of the way you hunt.

Another thing I would do is actually rake my main trail before archery season or those little off shoots like in that trail where you always see deer take a rake and rake a little so you can sneak up quiet it's worth the time and effort.
@Leatherwoodoutdoors216 күн бұрын
Well the only problem when you do that is if it's wet then it get super cold that trail becomes a nothing but spiked ice cycles. They are 10 times louder than a leaf. But definitely something to do for a backup.

Johnny, get you one of those modern call hands free mouth calls there's three on a neck lanyard. When I used to still hunt I would use the grunt or bleat call as I was walking and if I busted a deer you can grunt or bleat real loud to stop them or if a buck snorted and he didn't know what I was I would use a bleat or grunt then he'd think I was a deer. I grew up hunting in the exact same set up as you it works.

@Leatherwoodoutdoors2 Very true! I never shot a deer before reading that book. Since having done so, I've had 3 years that I didn't get a deer. One year, I didn't go. The other two, I missed... It also got me hankering for a .250-3000! I picked up a Remington 700 Classic so chambered, n.i.b., literally, back in August, and took a FINE doe with it last day. Koller was right about the .250-3000 too!

@easttexan2933 little bit of inside info. Zach from THP used to watch us before they ever started thier channel. He invited us to join thier first deer tour when they started. We declined because we were unable to travel that much. We were considered an inspiration to them before they started thier channel. We don't do youtube full time like they do since we never pursued it. If we were able to do it full time we'd have tons more content and probably would have joined them in thier deer tours.
