@jamesnevad6975Ай бұрын
The Cpat is way harder
@Joseph-wh5ofАй бұрын
@jamesnevad6975 The PAT I did for the fire academy was pretty much the CPAT. The only exercise that was removed was the final one where you have to push and pull the weight with the pole. It was hard, but I finished at 8:18.
@flashattack70635 ай бұрын
Stairs at the end and only 4 flights (appx 40-50 steps)? That makes this remarkably easier than the standard CPAT. Why lower standards?

@FatheroffiveMrDad29 күн бұрын
Thanks for question. I surprised myself on how well I did. It was easier than I expected but I was tired afterwards. No issues with any part of the test, just make sure your stamina is good. Unfortunately I was not selected due to my lack of experience. They were only looking to hire 3 candidates and around 40 showed up to test. 2 of the 3 candidates selected had previous fire fighter experience or volunteer fire fighter experience. My interview wasn't great, I was really nervous and my lack of experience showed. My overall experience wasn't bad but admittedly I was disappointed.

You also need to think that most fire departments heavily rely on volunteers so easing the physical requirements makes it easier for them to have extra hands. Those volunteers who are serious about fire fighting, especially as a career will most likely consider getting into shape as they train, learn, and do their volunteer hours.

Hi, firstly very clear and comprehensive direction well done. I am a trainer in a medic unit in London, UK. May i ask what’s the relevance of the timing of 14 seconds on the drag and what weights do you prescribe for any weight dragged or lifted? I ask purely for guidance as I am proposing a PAT for my unit as currently its merely a bleep test.

@@willdiaz5366 I think it has to do with the latest Cov spike. During the interview portion at BCCC one of the lieutenants said that the academy would start on Jan 10th if you pass your CPAT during the first wave, Feb 4th if you passed the CPAT during the second wave. @@AndrewTa530 Come on dude! A simple search shows Baltimore homicides for last 5 years has been 342 starting in 2017, 309 in '18, 348 in '19, 335 in '20, your stat for '21, and so far 49 this year. Biden's an old coot. But think about it, because you simply don't like Biden, you're implying that he is causing these rates, that have stayed at an average of 334.4 over the last 5 years?? This is why the left act so pompous, because of people on the right that don't like OUR PRESIDENT( OUR as in everyone that lives in this free country) revert to caveman logic. There was 3 line of duty deaths on Jan 24, when 3 Firefighters perished due to a building collapse while they were searching for a possible trapped victim. Those brave 3 were the first LOD deaths since 2014, when a Firefighter fell through the floor and subsequently died from smoke inhalation. It's amazing what 15 minutes of actual fact checking can do to prevent the spread of false narratives.

I challenge the Baltimore city fire department if they care about safety to explain why I could have died from fraudulent advice they gave me? I am almost 100% certain I could counter argue and win against them in court 07/13 Maryland's Tragic Smoke Alarm Legislation *** Click 'HD' (next to volume) in Video Control Bar ***01 July 2013Maryland, U.S.A. - Maryland Senate Bill 969- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - On 01 July 2013 new legislation was introduced in the State of Maryland, USA mandating residential smoke alarms be fitted with ten year, sealed-batteries.The law also requires residential battery-operated smoke alarms be equipped with a "hush-button" feature that will temporarily silence the alarm if activated by a non-emergency condition.Why does the WFSF say Senate Bill 969 is 'Tragic?'Most smoke alarms installed in U.S. homes are the ionization type. Ionization smoke alarms have two proven defects:1. An unacceptably high false alarm rate.2. An inability to safely detect fire in the early smoldering stage.Unacceptably High False Alarm RateResearch shows approximately 25% are disconnected within the first 2 years. The solution offered by Senate Bill 969 is to disallow the disconnection of the battery by making it sealed and providing a hush button to deactivate the alarm until the cooking fumes etc disappear. This is a band-aid, not a solution.Other States such as Ohio, Vermont & Massachusetts have mandated the use of photoelectric smoke alarms which have one fifth the false alarm rate of ionization alarms. By putting a band-aid on defective ionization technology the public are kept in the dark about the number one life-threatening problems with ionization alarms - a problem far greater than the false alarm problemInability to Safely Detect Fire in the Early, Smoldering StageSee 60 Minutes, 'The Alarming Truth':www.SmokeAlarmWarning.orgKidde 'Worry Free Smoke Alarms'Note the smoke alarms being offered in this video are the Kidde 'Worry Free' range of 10 year sealed alarms. All these alarms are photoelectric. The writing is on the wall for ionization alarms. The public must be told the truth about the known defects of ionization alarms, as opposed to being kept in the dark with this band-aid legislation. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - More:- Maryland General Assembly Senate Bill 969:www.mgaleg.maryland.gov/.../bil_0009/sb0969.pdf- You Tube Video & Story:kzbin.info/www/bejne/mWrEmX2ui7mjfc1h Sheila Hackert et al vs First Alert, Inc & BRK Brands, Inc.
