This movement is genuine. I do believe...at this time most Swiss watches including the Rolex brand use the white metal Elinvar balance hairspring. Before that period, Rolex uses blue steel and now, currently, the Blue Parachrom Hairspring.

I cannot comment on other shops labor fee(s); considering storefront and city location. However, speaking for myself, we charge $450 in labor since our store opening in 1999. The price was carried over from a Houston Texas jewelry store I was an apprentice and worked for from 1992 to 1998.

Honest answer...for me...six months(?) The truth to be told, most traditional 3-Hands watches have the same basic similar set-up across all brands. I myself had always proclaim that, "If one can work on a Seiko, then one can work on a Rolex watch!!!"

There are sooo...many Rolex variations when it come to the dials and the watch model combination. However, this watch dial here is an original make for the quickset models. Speaking for myself as a repair guy, I can only point out the obvious aftermarket part(s). If a customer come to me and ask if his Rolex watch is "Real"...I tend to shy away from giving a definite Yes-No answer. A simple aftermarket replacement of springbars, screw, or wheel...one would have a very difficult time to identify. Arguably, one can expect 90% of watches out there are "FAKE"...real Rolex with aftermarket parts or Frankensteined watch dial from another Rolex? Bottom line to the question "Is my Rolex real?" to a pawnshop operator like myself...."Oh sure, I am will to offer $$$ for your watch!!!"

have a Luminox 3050 in pristine condition that stopped working. A local watch repair place said the movement needs replaced for a fee of $105.00. Does this sound reasonable or should I mail the watch to you? Thanks for your time.

Hi my friend. The video here I did is the complete breakdown and service of the watch and for all intend purposes...Entertainment. However, in most practical repair shops, it is more proficient and profitable if one do a complete movement replacement on such watch as your. The part(s) cost is about $15-USA or a little bit less. ***Now, our shop charge $75-USA for the water pressure test and stand by the service for a year. This is our standard price for the water pressure testing for the last 25-years without any price change.*** I never question any one labor fee!!! At our shop, we would charge $65-USD for the watch service. However, I would push and encourage the customer to also to do a complete gaskets replacement (Gaskets include: crystal, setting crown, & caseback) plus the water resistance pressure test....then the complete job with a one year warranty will be a grand total of $125-USD.

Nice to see the old razorblade being used like a pro. Been 55 years in this game and found nothing better for certain watches. I did buy (Impulse. Had to try it) the same tool as you have off Aliexpress for $12.00 a few months ago. Special offer I think. I think my version has been altered as the wedges have more of a knife edge? Not had the courage to use it yet but will (after seeing your video) give it a go. All the best.

Trust & Product Integrity...Those are big hurtles CGC have to overcome with us hardcore collectors-investors. Maybe to start off with, adding holographic security stickers at the seam of the CGC casing.

My first use was a disappointment. Metal on metal scratching while turning the knurled knob. The bit is not precise and too brittle. One use and it self destructs. Don't buy it!

I am right there with you my Brother!!! Although JSA are operated with well trained and knowledgable personnels, it is still a judgement call and opinion of that person(s) to give a thumb-up or thumb-down on the collectible at hand...not a 100% definitive guarantee. Just like a CGC's grader "Certified" 9.6 (OWWP) on a book and then after another resubmission, the same book get a 9.8 White Pages.

Looks like a ronda 515 which are about £10 to replace. Why not just put a new movement in? Surely it’s cheaper for the customer?

Most people tend to want there watch as original as possible. Yes I agree...switching out the Rhonda movement is a simple way out; however, we do not know how old is the new "old stock" movement and does it also in needs of an overhual.

CGC looks at all comics with a black light. Get a black light for $5-10, then maybe you'll see some slime "wiped/smeared" around the front cover. If you do see it with the black light, simply, re-clean those fronts with wipes.

Hey my friend...I honestly have not dealth with a Rolex Milgauss before; but most Rolex oyster cases conceptually are put together in similar matters. However, if you carefully examine your watch, you can make a judgement on how to proceed. Be patience and have fun.

A conserved grade on a label is just something odd to put on any slab. Putting a coming in a slab is conserving it ;) con·serve - [conserve] "protect (something, especially an environmentally or culturally important place or thing) from harm or destruction"

The biggest problem is that everyone is allowing c g c to control a monopoly on their grading system. And the only reason why they are giving you the purple label is because they're trying to shame you for not using their services to charge you even more. So they're mad that you're outsourcing, good for you for trying to save a buck and cleaning it yourself. For restoring your book. I would do the same thing. Not everyone can afford there ridiculous prices.

Every major company has its own detrimental obstacle that define its future. CGC is dealing with a similar bumps in the road. I am an optimist. CGC will come out of this with some "chink in one's armor", but they will be fine. However, Winning back the public confident & trust will be an endless battle.

Wait if u look at the 350 slabs .. mostly grail like amazing Spider-Man 252 , ASM 300 , Incredible Hulk 181 AND 60’s comics book slabs ..The comic book slabs have to worth ton of $$ to do this .. Them guys not worry about few hundreds on a slabs

This is actually not the issue people think it is. Pretty much any book can be looked up and the accompanying picture of the original comic can be examined. Obviously CGC needs to consider applying something to the actual insert to marry it to the case, but beyond that, it’s still FAR safer to purchase a graded comic than a non-graded book.

Would've been *ALOT* less risks if CGC bothered to reverify/regrade *ALL* reholder requests on high value books. Only reason this particular issue happened. Granted this doesn't prevent all skullduggery.

I do agree with you. We all have damaged a CGC case at one point in time; being scuffing it or accidently dropping and cause a corner crack. So I am with you, if a book is dropped, there is a very high chance the pristine 9.8 might be No-Mo.

Honestly, it’s FAR riskier purchasing a non-graded book. For someone to swap the book out and sell it online requires them committing a federal offense punishable by up to 20 years in prison PER offense. Most rational people aren’t willing to take that gamble.

I think you've been singled without question! I've watched videos from other youtubers who rely heavily on cleaning & pressing & who never before presented any books as getting that purple label for cleaning! Additionally, my understanding of restoration is to repair by adding to the book such as color touch or replacing staples or even replacing a page or grafting material onto a page with a piece missing, etc. Removing dirt is not adding to what the book originally had off the printing press. Personally, I've never sent anything to any of those grading companies because from my perspective they don't employ people that will always follow their guidelines! If your books are assigned to the wrong person or persons on their staff. You never know if those people take advantage or are just being lazy when it comes to the grading. Then there's the fact that they don't actually guarantee their work, require you to accept their disclaimer of you accepting the possibility of damage on the submission form/paperwork! Then there's their rates for the services that go beyond the value of 90% of the books you might want to get graded or at least eat up the value you may be looking at for your sales after grading!

Sent in 5 books. 3 were cleaned and whitened the other 2 were just pressed. All 5 came back purple labels with the same notes “cover cleaned interior whitened” so I can tell you they have zero clue what they are looking for/at. They see 1 and assume every one of your books after that get painted with the same purple label brush .

Kind of absurd dont you think? Penalizing the cleaning of comics is stupid. Think about it. Removing dirt. Removing Yellowing. How is that dishonest? It should always be an upgrade. Is it a new piece of material? Did the book or pieces of it get replaced? NO. This is stupid and illogical. Anything that cleans or rescues comics from yellowing should always be an upgrade. Even repressing is fine. Replacing staples can be debated. Not original. You are doing the right thing and if the condition of the book is improved that is all that should matter. Strange stupid list of rules have surfaced.
