This is easy. She has the trademark "Jackson-Shake" in her voice. She's amazing. She's Michael Jackson's baby sister. That's it, that's all.

Her voice is not weak. The ones saying shes not strong are just comparing her and expecting her to measure up to your personal definition of vocal strength. She's successful bc she brought what was needed to the table and stayed consistent with a team that believed in her. Also doesn't hurt to be a Jackson 😂😂😂

Janet is a mezzo soprano, and for decades Soprano's along with Bass and Baratone singers where the highest and lowest on the song scale...I remember being in concert choir and glee club and I sang baratone/bass and I HATED Those low notes because it seems as though you could never hear them...to me at least. So I would always drift off onto the Tenor notes, because it seemed like you could hear them real well...but I would get in trouble with the choir and glee club director because he could hear notes, perfectly...and when I thought I was getting down singing with the Tenors, my Choir direct let me know every single time...because even though I was singing next to the baratone/bass and the Tenors with the Alto's and Sopranos' next to them...all I could hear were high notes....and I was singing all over the place and the director would have to stop everyone and go down the row of Barotone Bass singers to find out who that was, and it was me. With that being said, after years of learning that each note plays an intricate part in a song and it's melody and harmonies that I understood and respected where my voice could take me. Janet is a mezzo-soprano, so all those power house singers everyone is loving, are the same vocal range, from Ella Fitzgerald, Jordan Sparks, Rihanna, beyonce, Barbara Streisand, Indina Menzel, Bette Midler, Nancy Wilson, Jazmine Sullivan, Dorinda Clark, Patti Lupone, Adele, Yolanda Adams, and Fantasia. So it's not uncommon for some artist, male and female to choose to sing in their vocal comfort zone and I think Janet has proven that she can belt out a song, i.e., Black Cat - but rather stay in her vocal comfort zone. It also gravitates to what type of genre they want to sing, Black Cat a rock song of course she had to go beyond her comfort level...her background in music is very eclectic and I'm sure she's listened to all styles of music. Her older material was her trying to find what direction she wanted to go. She wanted cross over appeal, to the pop charts so some of her older albums had songs that where more rich in vocal strength, particularly her first two albums...which transpired over into her 3rd and 4th albums. Once she found her ground in pop songs she stayed there in order to hit pop, r&b and hip hop charts. In concert, her voice is not alway prominent because she's chosen to focus, in the studio, her background vocals blending and layering of her voice, that's why her vocals on cd/record sounds so soothing and polished. As in this video clip she sounds amazing with the song stripped down. If she did this in concert, basically all of her slow songs, this would be epic to witness, her and her background vocals interacting on a more sophisticated level. As far as her faster songs, if she wanted she could have her microphone adjusted to make her voice more prominent also. Because her live shows are always great anyway. And the fans are singing along anyway and focused more on her dancing...but the slow songs, would be a treat stripped down and even then the fans could sing along and still get the full effect of her voice.

I remember listening to this album like my life depended on it after he passed. I was only 10 but so moved by how the world reacted and after seeing the video for TWYMMF I was hooked lol, totally besotted. My Mum and I would listen to this track and laugh every single time at Michael's "shut up" while his siblings squabble. Can't imagine my life without the late greatEST Michael Jackson.

When you know your strengths..u can become the master of it. Janet is well aware of what she can and what she can’t do vocally and that is what makes her brilliant. You ain’t gonna see my gurl do the national anthem at a stadium baseball game and that’s fine but she will go on Rosie O Donnell and sing down boots and have the children gag. Take notes new girls

I can hear her all day. Im classically trained but r&b is my favorite bc of the sweetness and sensuality of it's singing. And Janet has that. She gives herself in her singing and sweet , pretty and makes me smile. Oh and it takes a real singer to have great pitch and a natural ability to instinctually harmonize to create a cohesive sound. She has more charisma and beauty in her voice than most of these immature female singers today who sound like nasal girlish brats. Whoever says she can't sing clearly does not know how to sing.
