Ah, got it. Can I ask what you thought of the tourist crowds in August. We are planning a late August trip this year and a few comments have been made about the potential crowds. What is your opinion?
@thetimelesstravelers24602 ай бұрын
It will be busy, but not overwhelming. You will be shocked at the number of 50 passenger coaches at the hot spots like the cliffs of moher. If you have small group options and private tours those will be your best bets. We always look for smaller group experiences and found plenty of options. August is a great time to go. We live in the states in Alabama so we were thrilled with the cooler weather!

Al used the English part of his name, added TA (German expression for outstanding). Thus AL TA. Everyone say after me. ALTA. Al was a great man. @thetimelesstravelers24602 жыл бұрын
We live in Alabama, so we can’t have it shipped directly to our house. But the wineries will ship it to our local package/state/ABC store and we pay a tax. A case of 12 bottles will usually cost around $3 in tax. We belong to several clubs and they all ship to the package store.
@Mark-qg8hm2 жыл бұрын
@@thetimelesstravelers2460 Try living in Utah. They only passed a new law this year that "allows" us to have our wine shipped directly to the State ABC stores for pickup, but with an 88% tax. Yes, you read that right, 88% tax. During the Nazi occupation of France they imposed a 40% tax on wine. Meaning, the mormons that control the government in Utah are literally twice as bad as actual, historical Nazis. I would kill to only pay 25 cents a bottle for tax. Hence, why we drive and bootleg in Utah.
@thetimelesstravelers24602 жыл бұрын
Holy Moly! I knew that UT and AL were the only 2 states that didn't allow wine to be shipped directly to the home, but I had no idea the tax was that much. Our son lives in Salt Lake and whenever we visit we go directly to the package to pick up a few bottles for dinner. 88% is insane!

We have remarked several times that if someone has never been to Europe, this wouldn't necessarily be the first itinerary to take. For us, we loved the people we met and were fascinated by the political history. One of the benefits of a river cruise is that you get a taste of several port cities and towns, but you never get to go deeper into the country to explore. We definitely want to go back to the area, but not on a river cruise, so that we can visit the places you mentioned!
