This is Gerry Wilkinson. I worked with Jerry for many years. Brad Seecof and I produced this video for Broadcast Pioneers. In case you didn’t recognize the voice of the narrator, it’s Merrill Reese. Yes, that’s me at the end of the video with Jerry Blavat,

Dom, dies this story interest you? Request for coverage Background information regarding the commemoration of women’s suffrage Vineland, New Jersey was founded in 1861 by Charles K. Landis, a Philadelphia attorney. He was able to attract some free- thinking individuals, who wanted to make positive changes. Susan B. Anthony, spoke to Vineland women in 1868, to discuss the need to legalize a woman’s right to vote. Portia Gage, a Vineland resident, took the matter to heart. She went to the polls in March of 1868 to vote in the municipal election. She was told that she could not vote, because she was not registered. Women could not register to vote. In November 1868, Portia Gage and 171 women showed up to vote in the presidential election. They were told that they could not vote, but they showed up with their own ballots and ballot box. They cast their ballots in that box. This act had national significance. Newspaper articles and similar protests occurred throughout the nation and the women’s right to vote was granted in 1920. The original ballot box is on display in the Vineland Historical and Antiquarian Society Museum, located at 108 South Seventh St., in Vineland. It will be on loan to the Museum of the American Revolution in Philadelphia in 2025. The Smithsonian Institution produces a video about the event. The Vineland Historical and Antiquarian Society has teamed up with the Greater Vineland Chamber of Commerce to acknowledge the women of 1868 with a two-day celebration on September 27 and 28, 2024. Women, from anywhere are invited to cast a ballot on Friday, September 27, from 10AM until 6 PM., Saturday. September 28 from 9AM until 12 Noon. Voting will take place at the museum. The museum will also be open for self-guided tours. A reception to continue the celebration will be held at Merighi’s Savoy Inn in Vineland. Tickets must be purchased in advance from the Vineland Chamber of Commerce. discovervinelandhistory.org also on social media Please see enclosures below. WFSU should be declared the leader with the most advanced state-of-the-art broadcasting system of stations in America. Its museum is a prelude to exhort interest and appreciation in broadcasting. Thanks to you, I am typing to you from Brooklyn, New York.

Although when I was a little girl my mom use to always say Louise Williams took Mary Mason’s husband James Bishop I never found out if it was true but as a grown I began following Louise Williams on gospel radio and I listened faithfully and looked forward to her prayer everyday at the end of her show I can tell she loved the Lord and was a praying woman I still miss that show that broadcasted every Sunday morning

Her bcstg. career started at Temple Univ. radio sta. WRTI (90.1 FM), Phila., Penna. as 1970s was coming to close. Then, as mentioned in March, 1981 she first joined WFIL Radio (560 AM), also in Phila., Penna. to launch bcstg. work. She'd work there till November, 1985 before joining cross-town 92.5 FM, which was playing Cntry./Western Music (and still is to this day). She worked there for quarter-century before moving on to work at cross-town 102.9 FM, also in "Quaker City" (Phila., Penna.)

I discovered so many great records listening to Jerry in the 60s. I bought all his albums where much of this music was gathered. He also started the Record Museum where you could buy the records he was playing. Finally, his Lost Nite record label acquired the rights to and put out so many classics. He was an all around genius.

I've seen robocams and automated cameras screw the pooch live during newscasts hundreds of times. This anchor is telling us to get used to it, because it's gonna happen more often. The damn accountants & board members don't watch their own news shows and don't care if the production values fall so far off the cliff that their anchors look like the 3 stooges. Camera operators are not perfect, but they take pride in their work. Production labor was cut with the camops jobs, but that same amount now pays the CEO's ridiculous 30x paychecks. God damn the uber rich CEOs that killed off the middle class jobs & stole their paychecks.
