That land Is far more prosperous without people than it ever would be with "land development" and such. It's a shame that it's being sold, especially because of the way this land is being marketed. Advertised as "pristine" but the living forest being veiwed as "standing board feet" instead of the home that it is for many critters... any time this ad says "pristine conditions" it also says "ready for the buyer to destroy it forever". When those trees get cut down, the critters will go somewhere... most likely right into that town. Any smart person that buys this property with plans for a future would leave those trees alone. This kind of crap makes me want to puke... obviously this land is in the wrong hands though.

I grew up fishing and swimming that reservoir and dog lake. Great times. My home town stomping grounds. I also did abit of land scape and fence building around those spots. In the spring you can smell the wild onion and garlic that grows in the region. I miss my home. I’ve always said if I was to by property it would be in this exact spot this video is advertising. This video was made for me. I’m taking this as a sign. I’m graduated class of 2006 LHS I’m going back home.

i'd buy an leave it how it is i wouldn't build a thing. i'd start a big homestead, employ the few that live there, we've got stop building & building or were left with abandoned buildings to rot for years. we need country towns i've been in Oregon all my life

beef its what for dinner and ford truck built tough ; ) good old sam elliot i hear he even lives in oregon on a ranch some where between eugene and salmen but towards the coast range, i miss those areas, live now up in northern alberta canada in a small village surrounded by the queens land, but we some times think of sale-ing to move south, and this would be perfect, but if we sale the oil/fracking industry would destroy our area so were staying to protect it

@nickkenney9357
@nickkenney9357 3 жыл бұрын
It did not burn down. There was extensive damage to the infrastructure. Repairs are estimated at $200,000., much of which is not going to be covered by insurance. There is a funding effort underway to help with the cost of repairs. Go to the Steamboat Inn Facebook page to contribute and view how much has already been raised. There have been a couple of individual donations of $10,000. However, as this is a grass roots effort, most contributions are in the $50 or $100 range.

Would love to be able to purchase this and offer those willing to come and populate it a piece of the settlement. To be able to build toward a rather specific theme and see about making sure all the homes, businesses and other structures are green energy, perhaps rebuild some with hempcrete, recycling all and any materials. Making a vital system of green energy, high speed internet via cable & satellite, maintain a clean water, low pollution and co-habitation with the natural environment. Community of all for one and one for all feeling, if someone needs help the community will come together to offer it. A place that's a Sanctuary from the chaos and troubles of the world.

Beautiful land that belongs to everyone and no one, just a place to be a place where, we like the wind, stop, enjoy the beautiful views that most people will never see in 100 lifetimes but as it is, this will not stay, as that was the way for 1,000’s of years but the way of today, it is truly a beautiful place!

The Pocket Ranch is a very healthy ranch and home to all types of wildlife. Water availability and quality is of great importance to a healthy environment. The ranch consists of 24 named springs, 30 active ponds plus numerous seeps throughout. Butte Creek runs through the ranch and is a healthy perennial fish bearing stream that has a large hatch of stoneflies during the spring and early summer. Stone Flies are an indicator of a healthy stream according to Wikepedia "all species of stone flies are intolerant of water pollution and their presence in a stream or still water is usually an indicator of good or excellent water quality." This ranch is also a wildlife corridor from Hells Canyon National Recreation Area and the Rugged Wallowa Mountains."A wildlife corridor is a link of wildlife habitat, generally native vegetation which joins two or more larger areas of similar wildlife habitat. Corridors are critical for maintenance of ecological processes, including allowing for the movement of animals and the continuation of viable populations." wildlife corridors of the Pocket Ranch are reasonably free of interior fencing. Most of our perimeter fencing has been changed to 3 wire vs 4 wire. One critical corridor area has been changed to a rail fence. Learn more about "wildlife corridors" on Google. Located in North Eastern Oregon Near the town of Joseph Oregon, The Pocket Ranch is 5817+/- Contiguous Deeded Acres, about 9 Square Miles of private ranch. There are NO other party IN HOLDINGS on this ranch. For this and many reasons The Pocket Ranch "Is the Best Elk and Wildlife Ranch in the State of Oregon." There are no public roads that run through the Pocket Ranch. With consistent and dedicated management our goal the last 12 years has been to enhance the ranch lands for all wildlife, water, grasslands, timber and have a quality ranch for grazing cattle. The ranch also leases the neighboring 1200 acres for grazing, which can be continued. Along with the enormous number of Elk, the ranch is also home to Mule Deer, All color phases of Black Bear, Wild Turkey, Chuckers, Blue Grouse, Ruffed Grouse, Hungarian Partridge, the beautiful hard to find Mountain Quail and NUMEROUS SMALL BUT IMPORTANT CREATURES. Unlike many other states Oregon issues Land Owner Preference Tags (LOP Tags) with the land you own. This means you can hunt your land every year. This ranch is diverse with elevations from 2600 feet to 5500 feet. Awesome views of the Wallowa Mountains and the Idaho Seven Devils from the upper part of the ranch. Canyons, Meadows, Rolling Hills, Forests, Perennial Fish Bearing Stream, creeks, rock pit for your road maintenance needs and miles of private Pocket Ranch roads. The Pocket Ranch borders the 50,000 acre Nature Conservancy's Zumwalt Prairie (See Maps). The ranch is on the power grid (with back up 22KW generator) and has year round access from Imnaha State Hwy 350, home is below the winter snow line in an average year and was built 25% into the hillside to reduce heating and cooling costs. $6 million. I believe it was sold. If not you should take a look.
