great video! just a question - i'm thinking of upgrading my road bike wheels that came stock with the bike and my budget is only about 500. The wheels are QR with 6 bolt disc. looks like most wheels these days are thru axle with centerlock disc. What do you think best bet is? would it make sense to get thru axle wheels that convert to QR (QR end caps?) and just buy new centerlock rotors? would there be any spacing/alignment issue?

I've been riding Campy for over thirty years. I couldn't get my bike over to Hawaii in time for my flight, so I had to rent a bike once there. It was ShimaNo and I thought I'd give it a try for a week. I returned it on the forth day because I just couldn't wrap my head around braking with my shifters and vice versa. Never again! Besides the fact that Campy has been so easy to maintain and upgrade through ten speed. I usually rebuild my shifters every other year. Easy peasy and they brake / shift like new each time.

I replace everything I can on every bikes I have, on some MTBs it's surprising how much weight you can save but durability and resistance to fatigue is the real game changer here... Gold and oil slick looks good too 😂

Can you do PM to IS? Normally, it is the other way around, but I am using a pitbike adapter, and it mounts to normal IS mount. My new forks are PM 😢

I didn't have a problem with the volume as much as the speed talking lol!! I kinda of understand now but with your accent and the speed of your talking it made it hard to keep up, in the future if you make another informational video would you slow it down a touch please 😊. Thanks for video.

Usually T25 if they have coned head like Magura brakes, but general socket cap head bolts have T30 if you are talking about M6 bolts.

titanium bolts in alloy frame need anti-seized?
@phililpb
@phililpb 8 ай бұрын
what is anti seized does that mean use grease
@TheHighAltitudeRambler
@TheHighAltitudeRambler Ай бұрын
Yes, titanium bolts in an aluminum frame can cause Galvanic corrosion. Although proper maintenance can help avoid that I would highly recommend to put some grease in there at least something to help keep water out of the threads

Hi, what would you recommend for someone who uses their brakes a lot? I'm a sucker for holding on the brakes going down hill - mainly because I'm heavy and have a heavy e-bike so bike doesn't slow down/stop well. Currently using sintered with 203 rotors on 4 piston Shimano brakes. Thanks

Stupid question incoming, I usually replace most bike parts but never the bottom bracket.. i had this done on one bike in the past (when i used to commute to and from work) but not my current mtb (which i use for fun), what is the worst case scenario and how do we know it needs replacing?

You'll know if a bearing is bad as the crank will seem like its rattling/loose or doesn't spin freely . Just make sure you clean the threads on your bike frame thoroughly before the new install

Hi Scott, you shouldn't experience noise with the E-Matrix pad compound, or any compound for that matter. Have a look at one of our earlier video's which covers brake noise and how to fix it - kzbin.info/www/bejne/iX_PkoOsjZyFe6c

So are semi metallic and Kevlar the best choice for strong initial bite from cold as it's not mentioned for the Matrix pads? Does lever pull force required differ as some say soft resin pads need more force? So much choice hard to work it out without trying them all 😭 I know they're a bit more money but if the matrix pads are better in every way why would someone pick Kevlar or semi metallic over the matrix pads? Is it to do with lever pull force?
@neilz3219

I don't know why you're giving a bolt length option without cup n cone washers cos any set up thats using that type of unthreaded adapter requires them under the bolt head otherwise the heads would not sit flush to the caliper.

I've got a 150mm RockShox 35 Gold RL wanting to run a 220 rotor from 180. What do you suggest ??
@neilz3219
@neilz3219 Жыл бұрын
If you're running a 180 rotor and your caliper is directly mounted to your fork then your forks post mount is 180 therefore you need PM7 180 to 220mm, if there's already an adapter in place your forks post mount is 160mm so needs PM6.
