OH, WOW!! Ann takes this to levels previously unimaginable! I think it's funny how Journey promoted Arnel as a "kid" they found in Manilla when the fact was that he was in his 40s. He struggles rather than soars, while Ann, in her 60s at the time, sings better than she ever has in her life. Same keys, more power and feeling than ever. She is truly the Rock of Ages!!!!!!!!!!!!

You act as if he hasn't contributed to new music and he has. He doesn't have to go solo to prove his talent in fact is is proving a lot that he is stepping up to stand in the shadow of Steve Perry. Bands change lead singers Arnel has the challenge of making new music and singing all the Steve Perry material give the man a break.

Arnel is a gift. BUTT.... He is immitating an original. No matter how he sounds.... He is still copying a vocal GOD. Watch the archives.

It was already explained before again and again that Neil did not hire Arnel to sing and sound like sp, NO. He had heard and watched other SP wannabes sound and look a like but he did not take it, rather, chose Arnel coz he DOESN'T sound like sp, he has a distinct voice and he knows how to sing journey songs w/o copying sp's style. After all, those songs were written by journey group, not sp alone.

Steve's voice is not really that attractive as the other singers. As a man he sound so girlish. Only he sounded better in the 90's, huskier a bit. That was it. He was just magnified now because he was the first singer of th group, became the basis. Steve Augerie or Jeff Scott was never compared to him. You just cant accept that someone can pare sp or there's a voice that sounds better than him and more listenable. So hard to accept but you cant command the group, man. You don't feed them. He is not a vocal god.

Arnel (did I spell that right) is friggen gifted beyond belief. That being said. He is imitating Steve Perry. Steve was the original. No matter what this guy does................ He is still imitating a original. He has been hired by a band to sound just like STEVE PERRY. Listen to the archives. There will never be the original......... Just guys who sound like him. He (Arnel) should go solo. If he does I wish him the best. He is awesome.

I think I was a no Steve no Journey guy for awhile. This guy is so good on his own, not as an imitator, and is so pure of spirit and unpretentious, that I just have to give it up for him. I didn't have a chance to see this tour. My loss. If AW, La Dia Del ROCK, approves, that says it all. They created a version of this song never to be equaled, just the event itself and the singers, but can I also point out that Ann created high harmonies for the true duet section at the end? Wow. Props AP. <3

omg, you are right.many can't accept arnel.perhaps if he doesn't sing as good or better than steve, he wouldn't even raise a rocus! it just proves that he's so good at what he does because he stirs a lot of emotions.the 2 former frontmen were never talked about like this.

If you want to hear a real comparison listen to steve perry singing faithfully live in 1994 ... there is really no comparison, I think Arnel Pineda is a good singer for the record,
