Does your front lift up when you plow snow? My front end lifts up taking trackson off the front wheels. My push tube seem to be angled up to high when I push snow. It picks the front up alittle

Mine didn't lift up. My front end did feel a bit light depending on the angle you're pushing and how much snow. This will happen with any quad. But it didn't affect traction.

I bought this Quad about 7 years ago. The mounting bracket was the shittiest design ever. Ended up breaking the frame below radiator and when I welded it it handled poorly afterward. It handled way better in the mud the lady I purchased it from was cool as hell though. 48783 Michigan.

Add some sand bags on the front and rear racks,,100 lbs on the rear and 50--100 on the front and it will push much better. Some stock tires are junk for plowing,,,, bighorns are good, and Euro Excavators are about the best. Have had no luck with mud tires with a v tread on slippery ice and snow.

You mean the plow? If so you'll have to buy the push tube, front mount (or mid mount if you prefer) and the plow separately. They come with all the necessary parts to install. Took me a couple hours to install because the front mount plate mounts under the winch. It was fairly easy.

I see you are using the double line rigging. According to my instruction I have to set it up with a single line rigging. Do you think it will be just as solid as yours? Mine didn't come with the strap for double line rigging. Maybe with the newer model they only offer single line rigging. I have a 2018 grizzly 700 LE. it should be fun. Nice video.
@xhyway01x
@xhyway01x 5 жыл бұрын
I did it this way to slow down the raising and lowering of the plow. Gives more control. The plow came with a cheap plastic pass through which broke so I just attached a snatch block to pass the line through to come up to the rack. Yours will be just as solid, just a faster motion.

What plow brand do you have? Right now, I'm using an Iron Baltic front plow/winch mount on my 2018 Grizzly but I'm not satisfied with the mount because it bent the second time I plowed the driveway. I've never had a mid-mount plate bend and I think the middle of the quad is much stronger than the front so I think I'm going back to a mid-mount for my plow next season.

Thanks for your comment. I took some pretty good hits with the plow and no bending what so ever. I love the extra clearance I get while raising the plow. 2 winters ago I took off the plastics to go over my grizzly and the frame in the front looks good. The only maintenance I did to the plow and mount was paint. Hope you have better luck with the mid mount!

Hey buddy I have a question I just bought my son A 95 Kodiak 400 full time 4wd and man its squirrelly as hell on dirt roads and grass. Was yours like that? I really notice it now that I have brand-new tires on the rear, the front are kind of bald so I'm wondering if that's the culprit. He literally cannot drive in a straight line without it wanting to kick out
@xhyway01x
@xhyway01x 7 жыл бұрын
Sorry it took me awhile to answer. It could be that the lugs are sliding on the rocks. I noticed that with my Kodiak but I've since upgraded to a Grizzly 700. The tires weren't the greatest on my Kodiak. I'm guessing that the reason would be the bald tires and little traction. Slow trails weren't an issue.

I'm curious about your plow setup....why do you have the winch cable hooked to that piece of wood mounted to the rack? Just curious if that helped with the rope breaking.
@xhyway01x
@xhyway01x 7 жыл бұрын
Brandon Harris Yes I used it to hook the winch rope. It just helped in slowing down the speed of the raising and lowering of the plow. It made it more dexterous. With it hooked up direct to the plow it was more jerky and felt like I had less control.

Those tires that I was running are bighorns OG and have a very stiff sidewall. I run about 3-4psi in the winter. I don't recall losing any traction in the vid so I'm not sure what you're talking about.

I also ran 3-4 psi in my 6-ply AMS Slingshots and it was like having chains on, traction was incredible. I've always preferred a certain degree of tire spin anyway, it's easier on axles.

Hahaha. First off that was a teenage male in the back of the sled. He just got off the quad to see what it felt like going through the water. Second, we were going a total of 5mph if that while I was carting them around. Much slower than a trip down the hill. As kids I'm sure we've done much worse than this. It was just good clean fun. But way to be an armchair critic of parenting, but I get it no one is perfect. Get out, go ride and have fun. Cheers

always put on stiffest. My AC 400 (and arctic cats are notoriously stiffly sprung as compared to other atvs) is used for plowing and even I have to set it at its stiffest setting.
@xhyway01x
@xhyway01x 12 жыл бұрын
I have the springs set to Max. I find there is no advantage for a lighter setting. I had the plow buckle on the Max setting and there was no damage from the hit...it was just an ice shelf underneath. As for the blocks I had it set where the plow was set at the most forward setting. The height of my tires made the plow look square to the quad anyhow...if that makes sense. It was the best of both worlds to scrape and scoop.

@mikren705 Yeah that was my bad. I took it off prior to plowing that day. I woke up to tons of snow so I was a bit excited to get started. Remounted the 2x4s wrong (further back on the rack) and didn't realize it till I put my tools away and tried to hook it up. The hook and stopper would have crushed my plastics. So I said screw it and started plowing lol. When I did have it mounted correctly, it held an impressive amount of weight because it distributed it well across the rack.
