Dan was in love with Blair, but she wasn’t. I always thought that Blair loved being loved by Dan, didn’t really love Dan. In my opinion they should have remained friends, I liked them in S4, their fraternal bond was fun, but as a couple they were strange, forced and had no chemistry.

I live chuck and blair. But Chuck didn't deserve blair. Blair deserved so much better. And as much I disliked Dan in many scenes but undoubtedly he was the one Blair should have ened up with. He loved her truly and unconditionally

I think where the writers went wrong was that they didn’t get Chuck or Blair to properly move on from each other like other former couples had. If the storyline was about Blair choosing between Dan and the prince then gossip girl fans would have been rooting for Dan and Blair and then the writers would have made given the ending they deserved……such a shame as Chuck and Blair was such a toxic relationship and not a healthy example for the young viewers at the time, while Dan and Blair was definitely a more healthy relationship
