Hi Scot In awe of your talent and discipline! Truly a master craftsman. I have a question, on one video tour of the shop I noticed a Hawk saw. I have a 220 and it drives me crazy but I have no reference as it is the only saw I’ve ever used. Obviously you are committed to Dewalt …just wondering are the advantages just so tremendous? Cheers and thanks.

Hi, so, basically, brand of saw is a personal choice. Many folks love Hawks or Dewalts or Pegas, etc. PERSONALLY, I did not like the Hawk and ended up donating it to a local organization that teaches woodworking to kids. I did love the DeWalt, but the last 2 I got had electrical issues and I gave up on them and now I have a Seyco and I am very happy with it. It's like asking people what brand of car they like, you'll get a dozen different answers. Happy to chime in with my preferences.

Do you not have to adjust the tension on your blade each time? Is that because of the Pegas holders?

Very interesting Scott. I have a question - how do you finish off the piece? I generally sand with 240 grit once cut out and I put the puzzle inside the cut out to support it while sanding. However, just cut a "Bee Kind" and there is a load of veining in there. Do you do anything to celan out veining or just leave it as is? Thanks, Jack
@scottseifer4551
@scottseifer4551 6 ай бұрын
Hey Jack... What you see is it... I don't sand any of my work, I'm too lazy ;-) I dip the puzzles in mineral oil to bring out the color in the wood, that's it.

Hi, the items you see that I make are all hand drawn by Harvey Byler. He's been drawing them for 20 or 25 years. He's happy to put any name in any of his patterns for $21 each. You can certainly give it a try. I've tried and failed miserably. LOL

Why don’t you just replace the bearings and sleeves on other saws that broke. Several how to videos on KZbin on how it’s done.

Hey Vinnie, yep, I've watched them all and Bob Brokaw is the guru of it. I'm simply too busy with a full time job and at the time I had 2 side businesses as well... and... quite frankly I'm not too mechanically inclined. I did try once and failed miserably, so it's just easier to buy a new saw and at just $500, it's a very small part of my cost per puzzle that I make and sell. (1000 puzzles sold per year)

I've been wanting to record my pitch for quite some time and never could remember to do it and being a one man operation it wasn't easy. But I got it done today at my final weekly market. I had the phone on a stand so that's why it's just aimed in one spot.

Hi Scott, I cut the Doodle non-puzzle for the first time today. I noticed with all the detail in the face a weak point is created with lots of movement. Have you tweaked this area at all?
@scottseifer4551
@scottseifer4551 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Paul, yes, a great example. I simply don't cut one or two of the details that get too close to the other detail areas, thereby leaving a little more wood and making it a little more stable.

Hey Josh, I stopped supplying them to customers, but these are the ones I chose due to the length of the screws... need to go through the 3/4" wood and still have enough to fully screw into the anchors. I simply sorted them into little bags when I was handing them out. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0051IAOTI/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Hi Scott, this saw sounds louder than your videos with the DeWalt. Is that due to camera location or is it louder? I would be interested in hearing your comparison/contrast with the DeWalt as you have so much experience cutting with the DeWalt. Happy New Year to you and your family.

Hi, I don't know that I've noticed the Delta being louder, I'll try to pay attention next time I cut. It's a good saw, built on the same platform as the DW. But 2 things I'm not crazy about... One is that while the Delta has a built in arm lift, it requires both hands and is in the back. The 3rd party arm lift I use on my DW is easier and can be worked with one hand. The other thing is there is no light specifically for the Delta and the DW light can't be installed because the mounting screws for it on the Delta are on the opposite side. For those 2 reasons I'll stick with DW. Glad I got a chance to try the Delta though.
