My mom has a '08 4.0 Explorer, great little engine. Bought with 101k, has 152k with regular maintenance items and doesn't get enough credit for we've put that little thing through.

Keep fingers crossed with the timing chain components, lol. If I had one of those ohc 4.0 I'd be changing the engine oil every 2k miles!

Yeah, the axe head decided it wasn't having it last time lol. And surprisingly the duct tape actually held it together for almost a month before the wood fully gave in😂

Personally I stuff the old gasket into the pushrod lifter valleys so I get better valve lift. Poor mans cam.

Lol. I've had a few different ford trucks over the years and haven't had many issues at all besides normal wear items. All depends on how you maintain it. Every brand has their own issues

Some old dude who had it before you wanted the extra power of the 4.0. Not hard to do as long as you swap the computer and flash tune it and get an adapter harness between the two trans it’s definitely possible. Check the radiator if it’s swapped with one that has a trans cooler then you’ve got a “factory” swap.
