I've been having some problems with mine and I'm wondering if this is it. what were your problems looking like before you resorted to figuring this was it?

Trout will die after handling with bare hands.
@JigHeadFishing528024 күн бұрын
Saying they WILL die is extreme. I do know handling them with dry hands removes the protective coating which can lead to infection. My hands were not dry. Just by hooking a trout you increase it's chance of dying significantly with the release of lactic acid to its muscles from exertion. This is true even if you never take it out of the water. The best way to prevent this is to not fish at all. I love fishing way too much. Thanks for watching!

Winter fish can be fatter since the hormones of spawning are not present if they have enough food around they get big

How much weight do you think u have on here? How hard is it to pull?
@JigHeadFishing528028 күн бұрын
@tomivy11 I have since upgraded to the eskimo 850xd hut. With all of my gear it is probably around 200 lbs. If I have more people and take my smaller hut also it's a little bit more. It pulls like a dream. I have more videos of me actually pulling it across some lakes. You can check them out. It doesn't take much effort at all to pull.

Did you ever set the hook? Your rod is all caddiwonkus. And you weren't keeping enough pressure on him. He didn't get the best of you, he got away because you let him off the hook, literally.
@JigHeadFishing52802 ай бұрын
@MarkTubeG I did set the hook! I'm also unsure of the term caddiwonkus? I've never heard of that one before. I watched the video back after reading your comment. I feel like I had good pressure on the fish the whole time. The original video is much longer. if I didn't set the hook and have good pressure the fish wouldn't have been on the end of my line nearly as long. When It got close to the kayak at the surface , it turned to make another run and that's when the lure came free. It probably actually tore free from the fish's lip.
@MarkTubeG2 ай бұрын
@@JigHeadFishing5280 You would know. You were there, I wasn't. I was just basing my comments on what video there was. "caddiwonkus" is an old-guy term. Just means crooked. It looked in the video like your poles' guides were not aligned. Even small things can make a difference. And then sometimes they just get away. That's why it's called "fishing" and not "catching!"

Hey beetle, I usually net the fish to keep it in the water and then remove the hook. I don't remember what happened here and why I didn't do that. I feel that with barbless hooks, you tend to play/ fight the fish longer trying to keep it hooked. This is harder on the fish than getting it in quickly, letting it rest and then releasing. The longer you play the fish (especially trout)the harder it is for them to recover.
