Err! This issued 3 days ago according to YT, so 11th/12th Jan 25. However, 4.5.0 release dates from April 24 and 4.5.1 maintenance release dates from July 24. (and you need Configurator 10.10.0)
@skybug37 күн бұрын
Yep, 4.5.1 came out a while ago. I only decided to move on from 4.4.3 to get better support for GPS. Been using Configurator 10.10.0 for a while.

Angle mode is a crutch.
@skybug37 күн бұрын
True if you fly drones that have the option of acro. I started with cheap hobby grade without acro, and an interest in getting smooth footage from a GoPro attached to it. Now that Betaflight is well developed, getting comfortable in acro mode as soon as possible is advice I agree with. Still like the option to flick back into angle mode in emergencies, and for smooth landings.

Not pretty, I know! Watched a lot of KZbin videos, but still find getting a good looking joint is sometimes difficult. Using more flux and a more powerful iron on large wires seems to help.

I'm mostly amazed at the video stability in-flight, compared to say, your helmet camera!! So hard to have small, light cameras be stable but you sure got some nice smooth control fliming in flight. I'm just a nightscape timelapser, my camera alone weighs more than your equipment AND those two beach chairs! But you made this drone filming look endlessly fun! Nice job!
@skybug3Ай бұрын
Spent many years trying different things to reduce vibration when in flight. The first thing was finding well balanced props. Next home made foam camera pods. They reduce vibration, protect cameras and float. The final element had been the emergence of cameras with effective stabilization. For me, the GoPro 7 remains a very good unit. Newer models are heavier and do not have better performance. Smaller more recent "thumb" style cameras can not yet match the GoPro 7 for stabilization.
@ApatiEktetheimenosАй бұрын
@@skybug3 That's GOOD info, thanks. Time for me to rid myself of my old 1080p stuff that once upon a time was state of the art! Long before drones I shot 100 miles of kiteboarding from a jittery helmet cam, and spend those many hours in Post trying to stabilize! If you been doing this long, you'll remember those days!! But, I'm stoked for you because the whole fun of it, is steady improvements and that is what "gets us out there" to go for it! Oh, and in my old days, I used gel-pods, actually soap beads that are pretty tough, instead of foam. Gotta be something better now tho! LOL! Good luck.

I never had a problem with 3S and standard Bugs 3 ESCs with the small amount of testing I did. However, I saw too many reports by other flyers of failures. One of my Bugs 3s even came with a charger that would charge both 3S and 2S batteries. These days, I've moved on to SpeedyBee F405 flight stacks, but still run Bugs 3 motors even powering them with 4S batteries.

if im on a sim only what controller can i get im assuming this one is over specificated for me ? a beginner ?
@skybug3Ай бұрын
I started with a cheap generic game controller with a usb cable when I was learning acro with the FPVFreerider simulator, but found it did' not feel like a real fpv controller with proper gimbals. There may be less expensive fpv controllers than the RadioMaster Pocket that I use, but I have not tried them. Make sure they have a USB port to connect to a computer. The Pocket has 2 USB ports, one for charging the internal batteries, and another on the top for computer connection. When the Pocket is turned on and a USB cable connected to a computer is inserted, there is a choice of modes to select - Joystick, USB Storage etc. I find it easy to use. If you find a cheaper controller than the Pocket, search KZbin to check if anyone can demonstrate successful use of it with a SIM.

I was looking at some speedybee stacks and found them to be priced better than most at Racedayquads. I want to build something small with a 20x20 stack. Sorry about your motors coming off and killing your stacks! Have fun out there!!
@skybug32 ай бұрын
Had problems with 3 SpeedyBee F405 30x30 stacks so far - crash into the sea killed the first one. Hard crashes on land on two different quads left me with one working stack - ESCs dead on one, FCB dead on the other. Though I'd lost quad battery telemetry from the surviving FCB, but it turned out to be a damaged RM RP1 TX ELRS module. Good diagnostics to troubleshoot this new gear helps. Hope your next build goes well.

I have screen brightness on the rotary but have volume ramped to the max and wear ear buds when flying with crashing waves. Would like a second rotary switch for volume, although I could probably figure out how to adjust volume on one of the push button switches.
