i thought the cotton and the needle were never meant to come in contact with eachother? Like you are meant to take out the needle and THEN put on the cotton and apply pressure???? not put the cotton ontop of the needle and then take it out

there are many factors that affect how effective the puncture is. thats why some of the buttons have several levels for puncturing depth

Use a new needle not the drawing needle when it’s time to administer. I do IM at home and used the same needle for drawing and injecting the first time, but my provider said use 21 for drawing 23 for injecting. Live and learn lol.

@@khlopzi I'm currently trying to watch this video to do exposure to blood and needles, as I have a similar response to you with them. I am working with a skilled therapist in exposure therapy and it's all about small steps towards building your tolerance to things like this. I first started with a video where a man used a banana to simulate the process. Once I was no longer squeamish to that video, I moved up to them doing it on a dummy arm. Now, It's time for the real thing lol, which is why I'm here now! I'd suggest you do something similar, as it can train your brain that it doesn't have to shut down when seeing scary things. Hope this helps.

You should always wear gloves-- I do not touch patient skin with my bare hands-- then when you get your supplies you never touch the gray part of the blood tubing to keep sterile because that is a needle in that gray part.
