I had to carry my boots and my shoe shine polish around my neck. I also my drill instructor made me do do 1000 push-ups or setups. On command

Just talked to my local Marine recruiter a couple days ago. Gonna be trying to join the Corps at 26 years old, I’m fairly confident in my physical fitness but it’s gonna be real damn hard not laughing at these insults, I pray to God they’re not directed at me directly cause I’ll get my ass handed to me for laughing fs

1:11 Saying "fag", especially on camera, would get the DI an NJP now. What a difference of maybe 10-15 years makes

This clip may be comical but I promise you guess. If people only knew what went on inside the squad day.

I started at USMC and then switched to USN to become a corpsman. I will never forget my DIs. You do not join the Marines you are made into a Marine. Even after moving to the Navy I am still and was always treated as a brother. Simper Fi. Trust ol' Doc to keep you alive. HMC (FMF) retired.

Getting roasted on the pugil sticks is ruthless. Getting roasted when trying to run while your DI is walking....just heartbreaking

My Dad was a Drill Instructor at Ft. Polk in the 60's and went to Vietnam in the 70's. It wasn't much Fun growing up around that. He did take me out to the Obstacle Course one time.

My junior drill sgt (Army) in 1969 was just back from his second combat deployment in Vietnam. I don't know if he was a psychopath *before* he joined (or was drafted) or if Vietnam made him that way...but he was a psychopath.

Being a Drill Instructor was the absolute pleasure and HONOR of my life! I worked with Sgt Nichols, the Green Belt in this video who gave the speech. This was a GREAT time in life. Building boys into young MEN! Men who were willing to give EVERYTHING for this great nation! Giving that Green Belt speech and that Senior Drill Instructor speech were such proud moments, knowing the men we were about to create! This was probably record JUST before 9/11. We were all training recruits when that happened and the world changed. I THINK Sgt Nichols was a SDI when 9/11 happened… just trying to remember the timeframe… this video is “pickup day” or as the recruits called it “Black Friday”. What an amazing time in life! The beginning of an incredible life for these young men. Another chapter in a story I will never forget, and none of them probably will either. Semper Fi Brothers!!!
