Rode it today in the rain, it looks dry in the video. It's been raining pretty much all summer this year. The dirt is super grippy but the smooth rock and roots are just death. I learnt a lot about braking on the dirt but not on the roots. Front brake off over the root then rear brake off over the root. Like playing a pinball machine hitting the flippers, but you are also the ball. The chutes/corners are something else especially towards the bottom. It makes me wonder just what the limit of trail rideability is. A great trail but would go in from third house next time rather than Black diamond off Fringe hill peak. Black Diamond in the wet was a waste of energy, way too much climbing up over thousands of roots.

A few weeks ago I had to satisfy some curiosity and walk this. You make it look easy... there were some humongous steep drops there. I won't ever ride this. To gauge this, I can sometimes clear Ridgeline and Deliverance, and I'm very comfortable on advanced trails. Ka pai 🤙

I know this video is old - but as someone relatively new to mtbing the go pro effect is real in this one! I've watched your videos a bunch of times to get my head around makara trails which has been super helpful, but arrogantly after a lot of rain took the bike down trickle falls yesterday. Holy shit this track is mental! We could only ride like one feature and walked our bikes most of the way (which is also difficult). The whole way down me and my buddy were saying how the f do people ride down this 😂 Anyway your skills are amazing man, really put my lack of into perspective. Massive ego hit haha. Back to the drawing board!

@@monstamossie Thanks man! The very first trail I rode when I moved to Welly was Trickle falls in the pouring rain, I don't think there could have been a more appropriate introduction to Wellington trails! I'm glad you've found the videos helpful. I always say double the size and steepness of what you see in the videos and you'll get a more accurate representation. Keep trying though, you'll get there in time!

@TrailAtlas5 ай бұрын
I've only ridden the trails from Mogo Trig, heading back out today to scope out other areas of the MTB park. A short-mid travel bike should be fine. Even the double blacks could be ridden on a trail bike. They're mainly flow trails with a few rocks.

I came here to see if Jurassic could be a good wet weather track for around Nelson... I got my answer!
@TrailAtlas5 ай бұрын

@philthy46545 ай бұрын
@@TrailAtlas A couple of the easier tracks at CB are OK in the wet, but I wouldn't like to ride Deliverance or Poacher haha. I was just thinking of Jurassic because its such a good track and quite rocky in that stream bed, but it is still quite rooty. Nelson struggles in the wet due to so much clay around, we would really benefit from a good wet weather trail.
