I have an Astor piano and I am hoping to figure out a date for it. Do you know the serial number of this one? I believe mine to be slightly earlier. The end corners on front are rounded, and the name board does not have the carved out sound holes.
@RaleighCamerata10 ай бұрын
This piano had two serial numbers - one for the case, which I presume was ultimately made by Clementi (1299 If I remember right), and one pinned by Astor on the back rail (1508 I think). The Clementi number dates it to around 1805. If yours has rounded outer corners, then that would date later, likely in the 1820's is my guess without seeing pictures. I no longer have this piano - Teatro Nuevo now owns it for their period opera productions. I used the money to purchase a Viennese fortepiano by Wilhelm Dorr from the early 1840s.

@@RaleighCamerata thank you for the information! The serial I have found on my Astor is 3654. Someone else mentioned my piano was likely worked on my Clementi. Interesting to know this about your instrument.

So so happy that more people are discovering the STUNNING sacred works of Mondonville and that is there finally now a second recording of this great work! Great performance and even the French Baroque pronunciation was pretty decent! Huge congratulations on this, you guys know exactly what you're doing to choose a work as beautiful as this!

It really seems like there's a bit of a baroque music/HIP revolution going on in North Carolina recently which is amazing! The conductor here also is a professor at Rhett+Links old college so that makes me happy!

Thanks so much for your comments! I am a HUGE Mondonville fan and hope to program more of his works soon!

@@RaleighCamerata I am a HUGE Mondonville fan too! That's amazing! I wish I could be involved somehow as I have no outlet to engage in such stunning music that I'm so interested in, but unfortunately I live in the UK so can't, but I will be supporting you guys on KZbin with your great endeavour to do this!

@@joshuamusic02 Vous n’êtes pas tout seul, moi aussi je suis un fan de Mondonville qui traduit bien le baroque tardif a la francaise avec plein de promesses harmoniques. Salutations de France

The cello line is also supported by the harpsichord for our performance. Cello/continuo lines were often played by multiple instruments even though it is only one part.

Are either of these an instrument made by John Antes? Somehow, I doubt it. I do like the music, though. Who are the makers of these violins?
@RaleighCamerata4 жыл бұрын
No, the violin of the player on the left was made by John Pringle. I am unsure of the maker for the violinist on the right.
@mlshatto3 жыл бұрын
There are three Antes instruments extant of the seven that he has known to have made, but only the 1764 viola is currently playable. It has never been altered to modern concert pitch, which makes it difficult to play it in an ensemble unless the other instruments are also tuned down.
Kvindeorkesteret er mødt op med tre kvindelige solister. Nydelig musikudøvelse i den lille kirke......
