Honestly the synopsis of the whole lecture should be we as Muslims should not fall for the manipulations of our dear ones when Allah has shown us the way. My problem with Shaykh Noman’s analysis is that he did not approach it in a holistic way and stuck to only one example of kids being manipulated into marriage by their parents. Statistically 8/10 love marriages end up in divorce so let it be a lesson to all of us, we marry for deen and not for love and desires which can be full filled after marriage anyways. Allah has made us capable of loving anyone who is sent to us in a halal way. College and universities are for studying and not for finding life partners. The fact that the girl committed suicide indicates her distance from deen from the beginning, hence the “halal” boyfriend in the first place. And Allah knows best.
