If you made the balloon black in color with the heat capture improve your buoyancy?

I have a question: what materials are used for the envelopes and where do you buy them? Very interesting video! It would be nice if you had shown how the last gore was welded to the rest in the jig, but I think I have an idea about that.

I'm sorry, what is the fabric used?
@Erdevik2 жыл бұрын
It was 20 years ago an especially made 3 ply pvc But for 15 years now we work in polyurethane film that is much better for blimp envelopes

Just make the blimp much thiner like a frisbie to reduce air drag.
@Ezio-Auditore943 жыл бұрын
That'll reduce the internal volume with respect to the surface area, reducing the buoyancy dramatically. The sphere is the biggest volume to surface ratio, which means they already made the blimp thinner to reduce air drag. The thing is, they can't make it even thinner than that, because the lifting force won't be enough
@midgetman4206 Жыл бұрын
@@Ezio-Auditore94The could use a non structural skin all around the side to artificially "flatten" it (just make it wider and give it a more defined edge). It will reduce payload capacity but it could improve wind resistance.

Been wanting to build one of these Babies since 1973. I personally knew many of the old NAS Lakehurst Naval pilots from the blimp era, 1940's-1962. Even had a conversation with Admiral Rosendahl in 1973. Beautiful ship !

We learned that hydrogen can be a catastrophe in the Challanger space shuttle too, we learned that jet fuel can be a catastrophe in jet liners in plenty of crashes which have killed hundreds (the Hinenburg only killed 36), we learned that nuclear power can be a catastrophe in Chernobyl... We even learned helium airships are dangerous (the united states made a fleet of helium zeppelins, all crashed, killing most of their crew).. But we still use them all.

@applesweeter 1) because we cant do it ourself. 2) Everyone want to build something they see. 3) Nobody has a RC airship. 4) Because not al things have to go very fast. Same reason why we still use boats.
