I was lucky enough to see Billy Bragg in the late 80’s/early 90’s (there were a few trips), in a London pub. My family took a vacation there. I met a local boy on the subway. We met up at the pub. Have love it ever since!!! He has to be at least as old as I am. Time is a construct

Got it hit down Spot knock inside a spider Says: "That's love, yeah, yeah Yeah, yeah, yeah! That's love, yeah, yeah Yeah, yeah, yeah!" This is a great track...and it always will be. I highly recommend the Lazlo Bane redo of 3 strange days. It's brilliant.

I love how, in the last ten seconds or so, Nelson sounds like he's going to lay into a guitar solo in a similar vein to Robert Fripp's guitar work on Eno's 'Baby's On Fire' or Bowie's 'Scary Monsters', only for it all being a fake out. Especially as he could have done that had he wanted to.

Doesn't get as much recognition as it deserves because it's sandwiched between _Left of the Dial_ and _Here Comes a Regular_ The songwriting is really clever and gives the song a propulsive feel. It doesn't ever repeat itself. The second verse is half as long as the first. Paul sings "All you ever WANTED..." and "All you're ever LOSING IS..." differently, hitting a higher note with more intensity each time. Another guitar line pops up in the second verse. The solo is short and sweet and absolutely perfect for the song - Bob was really cooking here. Tommy's harmony vocals are perfect. "For the kids you stay together / You nap 'em and you slap 'em in a high chair" is one of my favorite Westerberg lyrics. The juxtaposition is brutal.

How this song didn't get more recognition and accolades is beyond me. It is a VITAL piece of music from the pre-Grunge period. Pat, Jim, Mike and Dennis were equally talented and important musicians. But Pat Dinizio was a songwriting genius. For a time in the last 80s through the 11 Album, they were on par with REM.
