Even if NATO didn’t necessarily have any cities nuked (which would be an incredible result in any nuclear war), I doubt the fallout and nuclear winter would be any easier. Kinda ironic really. Even if you do achieve complete victory, your own weapons will poison you.

There's an extremely realistic game, unlike this game, it's called icbm, you actually have to research and build your technology and weapons. You don't just immediately get nuclear missiles, aircraft, ships, ect. You have to build up your technology and place radar systems to increase your seeing range and you can also use satellites. You can also form alliances in that game. There's also a world destruction thing that once it reaches 100% it's game over. I recommend you guys to try it out.

What’s crazy is this almost happened in the 80’s. The Soviets detected a launch from the US and orders came down to launch all their missiles. The commander on duty was skeptical and instead of blindly following the order he investigated and found out it was just a glitch in the computer. It wasn’t until the fall of the Soviet Union until the west learned of the story.

And also was his feeling that the radar detector Oko [Eye] was failing and he said "no" to the high ranks. And he beleived that if those missles was true, receiving impact without counterattack will stop a WW3 with horrible consecuences, but as we know history give him the reason being a failure by Oko

Apart from the messages from Maxis that someone else noted you missed, you also missed a vid that plays if you failed Mission 4 by not setting the blastpac and just running to the teleport pad, where the Colonel dresses you down for your failure.

Did Russia deploy their entire fleet in the Pacific? This was only a "whipeout" because you didn't have to deal with their navy, at all. Subs would have taken you out within hours after "game over." London glassed.

@@HedgehogZone Russia's navy has always been notoriously shit, even at their best they were still atrociously bad when compared to everyone else. Their navy always comes in last in priority as its junior to the army.

This is a very good strategy, knocking out Russia ENTIRELY by positioning your subs and bombers all over the Russian territory and cut their heads off immediately as they launch 1 single nuke.

I watched a no commentary playthrough of defcon last night and I had a really hard time sleeping. This is the first horror game to leave a big impression.
