LM308 sounds a lot better. What other mods were made aside from the IC? Thanks for the video.

This is the best video on KZbin I’ve seen that really gives us the difference between the stock and R28 versions. I did R28, and C11 & C12 to cut down the MID hump. Such a great vid, audio is great!👍

Great guitars. Great Video. The new Chionese range are a decent modding opportunity. I think the even new ones now all come with full size CTS pots, and orange drops in the electrics. I have replaced everything in my Chinese natural. Tailgate, Bridge, Tuners, Nut, plastic controls, full electircs, pickups. I have what they build in the Epiphone USA Model, but for well under half the price.

Very cool. I have just got one of these and would love to have a switch for just one octave down. If you could give me any clues what i need to rewire, or even a suggestion of where to look it up, it would be much appreciated. Cheers 🤘🤖🤘

Yeah, I clipped R28 also C11 & C12 to get a flat EQ, instead of that MID hump.

i think he just put an sho circuit at the end. the capacitor mod is for the filter mod i think. i did the cutting of the filter capacitor and it opened up the sound

I can't believe the prices of the Korean guitars! With anything old, not vintage, people tend to go for the next best thing. Let's not mention the Inspired by John Lennon.
@Coolbeans1492 Жыл бұрын
Its not rly abt age its abt construction. The korean guitars were made with better materials than current line epis. And im sure the ppl that made japanese epis too expensive felt the same way. That being said japanese epis were built like usa guitars while korean models were made closer to Chinese epis but w better overall quality. Even in the vintage market the original reason to chase down a 50’s guitar was overall better quality but these days you can stumble across a custom shop that are really as good tbh. Vintage guitars cant really be used like they were in the past either bc theyre no longer 10-20 year old guitars.

The biggest difference to my ears was the rhythm pickup. The red guitar sounded muffled, smudgy and dirty in a bad way. Natural guitar sounded more musical. Oddly enough, both guitars sounded pretty similar on the middle setting.

I have had both and let me say first, that I really enjoyed my Epiphone MIC 2018. I only had one issue and that was with the switch which I ended up replacing. It played well and felt good and it stayed in tune very well. With my Peerless though there is no question that the build is better, the feel is more comfortable and the pick ups sound better and have a better response to the tone controls (or could be the pots). My Epi cost me $550 barely used as it was a return to Guitar Center. My Peerless I had to hunt down and I believe it is a 2013 model (they are really hard to date), and it cost me $725. All said and done, I love my Peerless, but i wouldn't mind having my Epi back as a second if I can get another deal.

I forgot to mention that I have a 97 Peerless and a Gary Clark signature. The first one is a pleasure to play and it sounds like a dream and have lots of tones to be squeezed to it. The Chinese GC Jr is also a really great guitar. It came with Gibson pickups and bigsby. They sound different enough to keep both. The Peerless is sweeter and wide while the GC is more powerful and "rockish". I had the chance to compare my Peerless with a inspired by John Lennon from a friend, and he himself just after a few chords had to admit that the Peerless sounds way better, full of details, frequencies and harmonics. Ps. This upcoming week I'll receive my new toy, a 95 Sorrento Peerless. I can't wait a minute more!!

It's good to see them compared.... But owning a natural Korean built Dec 2000, I didn't need to read the comments to work out which was which. Peerless walked all over the Chinese. Both would be great guitars, and unlike pretend Gibsons these Casinos are epiphone originals, but a shame they moved from peerless.

I just bought a 2018 Casino from their Qingdao factory. It was a replacement to the 2015 Peerless Casino that I sold because it felt like a toy. I wasn't expecting much other than I new that by 2018, Gibson had corrected all of the production issues they were having. Long story short: This Chinese Epi is fantastic sounding; feels solid and all the switches feel better. Is it a Gibson? No, but oddly my Casino was inspected and set up in the USA by "#9" and to a Beatles fan, that's all I need to know.

My Natural Epiphone Casino arrived today ,was made in China so after a very thorough inspection and playing it for a few hours I’ve got to say it’s a lfantastic guitar it plays very smooth considering I haven’t changed the strings and set up properly so my reservations about buying a Chinese Epi were happily wrong.I love it I’m more than happy to have bought it:s
@ghalston56412 жыл бұрын
@@sssidney my 2020 Chinese casino is shyte. Sloppy as f#ck finish, with smeared black paint in the f holes that looked like someone used their finger to apply. The wood selection for the neck was inappropriate for the clear finish, since at the headstock it has two tiny wafers of different colored wood filling out the headstock flares on the bass side (I.e. in line of sight while playing). The stain from the body’s top was smeared up onto the darker wood of the neck and then clear coated. The pau ferro fretboard is super light colored the binding full of stain and scratches, and the frets were as rough/scratchy as any bad Chinese guitar I’ve ever played. And it was delivered with a deep black scratch on the rim near the rear trapeze attachment. The pickups are so hot it is almost unusable with gain. And of course the upper frets are extremely uncomfortable to play. Not close to a good guitar. But I will check out a Songbird at a LGS and see if 2x the price gets you 2x the quality. Won’t be hard.
@sssidney2 жыл бұрын
@@ghalston5641 Seems like theres good and bad ones.Mine had a couple of minor issues like sharp frets but thats a easy fix,as far as the finish i didnt like the pau ferro fretboard because like you it was very light but its darkened over a period of time.I have heard alot about the f holes but cant say i had that problem.The pickups were hot but definately not unplayable.I ended up trading mine for a Epiphone LP 59 that i am more than happy with with the Gibson burstbuckers much more fun.Sorry to hear about your shite one hopefully youll find something better,Always better if you can try before you buy then you can check it out properly,ive made mistakes like that before and ordered online but learnt the hard way.

The solution here would be: keep the better guitar, the Peerless and switch pick-ups. The Epiphones are better, but give it a try with vintage P90s by Haeussel.

I played the China Casino and the Peerless Songbird, the ladder one is far superior in feel, sound and craftsmanship, the China Casino feels like a plastic toy and sounds washy in direct comparison, that is my honest opinion. Hence, I kept the Songbird.
