I almost didn't click on this because of the name of the band. Could this really be a band made up completely of black dykes? Well, happily it is not, and the band is much better than its name.

An absolutely stunning video - a wonderful arrangement of a piece of music that is so incredibly moving and appropriate, no matter what country you are from. John Williams is a genius at not only relaying the feelings of the soldiers in the field but also those of their families, hoping that they return safely. Thank you John Williams, Klass van der Woude for such a beautiful arrangement and of course Nick Childs and the Black Dyke Band for such a moving performance!

Cheap, sensationalist, watered-down 2nd-rate Muzak-style parody of the original. Other bands have been more faithful.

Arthur Gullidge, a fine Australian Salvation army composer. Sadly lost at sea as a prisoner of the Japanese during world war two.
