Because there aren’t any difficulty options this game becomes trivial and boring once you get decent gear and ranked up. I just stopped playing because everthing is so ridiculously easy. I mean how lazy can you be as a game producer to not offer the OPTION to increase the difficulty level?

I expected to like this game but was surprised at how much I like it. This is fast becoming one of my favourite RPGs- I am genuinely immersed in the world DD2 has given me to explore. I don't mind the missable stuff as a first playthrough I generally consider a practice run in games I enjoy enough to play through a second time, the second playthrough is my more strategic one once I know the lay of the land etc. I keep detailed notes so I remember where certain things are, but the one thing I didn't write down? The location of the first seeker token I picked up! So thank you for that info will definitely come in handy when I do my second playthrough!

The main story lacks so much action compared to the first game. Remember how badass it was running from a griffin with some basic knights and having the ability to save them, then having a sorceror you helped earlier in a quest arrive at the top to nuke the griffin? Raiding a goblin infested fortress? Where is that at in the main story!
@jungchoothian203929 күн бұрын
This! I missed shadow fort quest so much. It was one of the best. I thought they would bring similar quest back. Most of main story quests are taking place in towns…which is good to some extent but we need some few more main quests that take us to new locations and fight some monsters too! There were only one or two if I recalled correctly. Only side quests that provided that and none of them was that epic. Ancient Battle ground could be an epic shadow fort but nope. We just follow npc and avoid drake altogether. The dragon tower was small and the route to the tower wasn’t that epic, but it could have been. And both of these location are not even a part of main story The game is still fun but yeah.

This game has a bunch of highlights for me. I really liked the single Portal puzzles since those werent really a thing in Portal 2, that one chamber that was partially open to the outside and the part where Stirling gives you very detailed options on how he could kill you. I wish the linked lasercubes were explored more in this mod. Just imagine giving them seperate spawners, adding funnels, light bridges or even just buttons into the mix. Oh well, the worshop exists I suppose.

Overall a good video, but I feel like there are some things you missed/were a bit confusing on. 1) Voice Acting: While the dialogue was very well written and the characters emotive, the audio for Emelia always sounded off to me. Idk how she recorded her lines but compared to Sterling, the quality of recording is noticably lower. They sound more washed out or didtant from the mic. (Not too sure how to describe it.) Also her reaction to being turned into a Core was a bit flat, although I chock that up to lack of direction. TLDR basically I can tell it sounds like something from a fan game while Sterling sounds more official. 2) Bugs! There were two times I was noticably softlocked by the game. One was easily fixable and I just restarted not to far from where I got stuck to the point I don't even exactly remember what happened so it was fine. The OTHER one though is unacceptable. I was doing the final boss fight and clicked one of the buttons roght before a piece of dialogue and the timmer running out, and what happened was this. The building would start to explode, dialogue would play from Sterling and Emelia, then the building would be engulfed in white because the spire exploded, GAME OVER. It would then respawn me right as the Spire started to explode again and the cycle would repeat. I had to redo the whole last chapter from the start because of this. Also the way you losted Pros and Cons at the end but ended it by saying the game was amazing is a bit wiplashy. Do you think this game is flawed or amazing because it can't be both, or can't just be amazing and mufdies your thoughts. It can be am amazing experience but with some small flaws, or other ways you can describe it, but just saying amazing after that is a tad confusing. Overall though, this was a good basic review, however I would definitely recommend in the future going into more detail and lenght to really flesh out your thoughts, as it all proves your statements about something being amazing. For me I think Portal Revolution is great, but has some pretty noticable flaws that hold it back.
@DontAskemeh2 ай бұрын
Thank you, I greatly appreciate all your feedback! 1) I agree with you on Emilia's audio being of lower quality. I chalked most of that under the game being a *"free" fan-made mod* so I didn't want to bombard it too hard especially since its unrecognizable to the casual player. I have heard a lot worse from other titles so in my ears it sounded good enough to where it was obvious they tried their best and that is all we could ask for really. 2) This video was made prior to my newer review format which does include a "technical" section for this exact reason! I just already had this video voiced with most the editing completed, it just took me a while to finish it and I didn't want to redo or add to it honestly. That obviously hurt the review a bit as its not up to my current standards. That being said I personally never had any of your bugs/problems. I was never softlocked nor got stuck in any spot I did try to throw myself into. I would always get respawned or teleported to the start of the chamber. I only ever encountered 1 crash and it happened while loading into a chapter so even if I added it, there isn't much for me to say. Thank you for bringing up your bugs so people know it isn't all what I made it out to be! 3) I completely understand your whiplash, I apologize and thank you for bringing this up. I've thought quite a bit on it but haven't had anyone to justify my thoughts on the matter. I normally assumed the "Pros and Cons" will be instantly skipped to in the video for those who want a TL;DR (which did seem accurate in my experience) so I treated them as such. Its usually a fairly neutral opinion with some hard feelings mixed in (clearly not obvious). Mostly was just there for people who want to get a sum up of the game, all with my final opinion coming into play with the "epilogue". I will absolutely be working on this for future titles by making it more accurate with how I feel on top of the flow it should provide. I will still stand by what I said as I can't change it now but I think Portal Revolution is a fun and great experience that should be played through at least once even with its flaws. In hindsight there are clearly a lot of noticeable flaws I should have mentioned instead of chucking them under the "free game" pass. I'm always learning and future reviews will be better. Thank you, and most importantly take care!
@shinymk65622 ай бұрын
@@DontAskemeh Appreciate the response! I definitely while I think Portal Stories Mel has yet to be beat as the best Portal Mod overall, and while I think Portal Reloaded is made better as a game on a technical level, Portal Revolution is much more ambitious than Reloaded because of its story, and has some smaller things I love, such as Emelia being very expressive, compared to Virgil which at times lacked moving animations while dialogue was playing. Things like that, alongside the graphics make Reloaded feel like a modern Portal game, I just wish it could shake off some small things that still make it feel like a fan game. Portal Stores Mel feels like an official game that came out in the early 2010's, while Revolution feels modern, but still feels like a fan game because of small stuff I have mentioned. It's so close to being right up there, that it is unfortunate it JUST misses the mark by a few things. Overall though I would gladly replay this game after a while, and I will say this: my favorite chanper has to be an early one with Sterling where a Chunk is missing and you can see the outside with a cliff as part of the champer. I'm not sure which of it is, but those chambers are gorgeous and take the overgrown ones from Portal 2 and crack up the beauty to a whole different level. Love those chambers where you can see the outside. 10/10 in atmosphere alone.

I recommend playing Portal 2 first because it will refresh your memory about the game mechanics because Portal: Revolution doesn't do a good enough job with that. Some puzzles are very hard to figure out and complicated. And the ending is abrupt and unsatisfying. Other than that I liked it.

This game's marketing was awful. I saw all the trailers and thought "Nah Imma pass, this looks like the typical looter shooter" then it released and that is when the Instagram Reels, Twitter and KZbin shorts carried the REAL marketing with the memes about Malevelon Creek and funny moments...that was when I decided to buy the game and it is one of the best games I have played this year and is looking hard to beat.
