I get the historical reasons for some South Africans supporting the All Blacks and it makes sense. But I'm curious whether those same people also support the Springboks as their second team? The Springboks of today have transformed significantly (for the better) compared to 30 years ago so there seems no good reason not to support your own nation. The mixed demographics of the team today make it far more appealing for the majority of South Africans to connect/relate to.

Why post and talk about things you know nothing about? Please state which player from NZ was ever exiled? No player is forced out of country! And secondly, NZRU holds a strict eligibility regarding selection for All Blacks. We are a small population and need to retain what we have. Seasoned players can choose to take up money options and play overseas, infact anyone can make that decision on their own. NZRU are doing their best to protect our National and regional teams and tournaments. How dare you infer we exile our players! Stick to your own South African team. NZL holds higher standards and tighter restrictions and it works for us!

However, in 1947, an amnesty of the exclusivity ruling meant there was an opportunity for one final game of union for George Nepia. NZRU have always held tough restrictions! Though he was NEVER exiled!!!

I used to admire the Springboks, but don’t anymore. Even Moreso that a referee is brought in as part of coaching team indicates how the Boks will look to play … calling for penalties and forcing errors.
