All of a sudden there’s all these people posting on KZbin about how great Jay Graydon is. I had gone to Berklee in Boston and was already a huge fan of his in 1984! He has been a hero of mine ever since I was old enough to go buy my own records, and then had Jarreau and MT albums. Guitar player, producer, singer, composer, arranger, engineer, teacher, synth programmer and on and on! He’s at the top of a very short list of musicians of an historic level and significance. And he worked his ass off for it. He’ll always be my guitar, music, producer hero. Has been for 45 years and counting. Thanks Jay for all the insight and education, and great music. Now if he would just post the music and tab on his site of the second half of the Twilight Tone solo. 😃. jk

I suspect the vocals were rerecorded after the fact.........his closeness to the mic varies but not the sound of his voice.....sounds doubled too...

i just wondered if the vocals were synced..pretty damn slick...Foster out did himself with the EW&F horn style parts -wow!!!

What a maroon. There were was is a wall of singers singing on this tune LIVE. It's fantastic in harmony and in the Lead vocal voice(s)ing. Graydon' s vocals were NOT lead vocals. He was front and center and he could obviously hit his notes in harmony with his fellow killer musicians and vocalists.. This semi Faustian critic stuff is for EGITS..

This is a total lip sync from the original recording. Wonder why he didn't just sing live. It's not like he couldn't.

PS yes it was redubbed with studio track. Syncing old video is nearly impossible. But guess what the studio and this live track are as close as it gets to the real thing. That's how ultra accurate these mofos ARE!!!!$$$$.😊

@@lorenzo6mm It's not hard to do at all. If the drummer plays to a click, problem solved. The band is definitely playing live; Jay just isn't singing live. It's not a big deal.

PRO TIP: Jay is lip synching. His vowel shapes frequently don't match what we're hearing and his presence doesn't vary even though his proximity to the mic is all over the place.

Did you even notice the help he was getting singing his lead vocals? Perfect harmony and yes I have heard sing even better than this performance live. He never owned lead vocalist singing. It's not his thing. The guitar is. But Jay Graydon' in his prime could hang with the best vocalists in HARMONY at the very LEAST. It was his business as a STUDIO Musician who was and is a MTHRFKNG LEGEND. His discography and session work is second to NONE. Massive endless lists of dates, sessions, cameos, producing, writing and playing on hundreds of not thousands of documented music industry work. His original web page 25 years ago was mind bending long. I never even found the end of it. Think before you Gak out your opinion..😅

Not only is Jay Graydon a master at crafting guitar solos, his tone is sublime, phrasing, just everything, but he sings really good on top of that. And Warren Wiebe in the background man, love this guy's voice. A shame he passed away so young.
