Lol I love the idea of the bespectacled Clark trying to convince Dick that he somehow has better vision in the dark than the much younger Boy Wonder, who mainly works at night.

“… Here we go, up… and AWAY!” (You did want some extra cheese on that… right?) Love how the narrator says ‘Syoooperman!’ Aw, I just have to have a little fun with it but I was just thinking, wow, that was almost 80 years ago! Entertainment was syoooper wholesome in those days and I often wish we hadn’t ‘evolved’ so much as a society. I really love listening to these old stories though. Thanks for uploading!

Roy Thomas did a partial comic adaptation of this story line in a sumerizing flashback in World's Finest 274, in 1981 if anyone wants visuals. Its main focus was a sequel the Atoman story arc from the radioshow (that also was recapped for a few pages). The premise being these radio adventures are canon for the Earth-Two Superman, Batman and Robin. Wish they'd done more comic adaptations of these. And, as glad as I am that Batman and Robin guest starred a few more times, I especially wish they'd (ideally with the same actors) spun them off into their own radio series. So many great crime and mystery shows and skilled writers back then, I'd have been surefire gem.
@8LiterallyJustTheNumber83 ай бұрын
It took a long ass time, but at least we have a Batman audio series of some sort at this point
@bryanekers34723 ай бұрын
Minor note, it was in issue 271 (picked for being the 200th anniversary of Batman and Superman first meeting in issue 71). The entire issue is basically a recap of Superman/Batman teamups, the radio-show meeting being one of them. There was a framing device of a mysterious villain called Atoman that got Bruce 'n' Clark reminiscing about their various encounters over the years, including some when they were children. Around that time, there was also a three-issue miniseries called "The Untold Legend of the Batman" that used a similar gimmick; some mysterious villain is prompting Bruce to reflect on his start as Batman, on how he first met and trained Robin, how his major villains got started, all modernized retellings of various Batman stories of the previous forty years.

This was my childhood right here. Sure I wasn't born in the forties, but my dad had a huge collection of old time radio vinyls. And The Adventures of Superman had to be one of them. Eventually we got a tape set of The Adventures of Superman, and I listen to that on the regular because I had a brand new stereo.

My guess is everything after doomsday clock 12 is the age of tomorrow. legion is in the superman titles. Return of the pre flashpoint (age of crisis) dead jonathan kent was in Superman Villains. Return of the pre flashpoint history of the family (age of crisis) of Wally West was seen Flash Forward. Return of most of pre flashpoint history can be seen in Millennium 2 such as the history of the Marv Wolfman and George Perez New Teen Titans (age of metas). The Legion title has also made a reference to the Grant Morrison JLA (age of crisis). Golden age justice society (age of mysteries) showed up in the justice league title. The justice league title has made a reference to Doomsday Clock 12. Pre flashpoint Jakeem Thunder (age of crisis) is in the Teen Titans title. Shazam title will have the current justice society which is pretty much the pre flashpoint justice society from the age of crisis. After Flash Forward, Flash 750 has made a reference to doomsday clock. After Generation Zero, Wally West the new dr manhattan will be in Death Metal.
