James 2:24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9Not of works, lest any man should boast. Romans 4:5 But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness, Romans 4:6 And David speaks likewise of the blessedness of the man to whom God credits righteousness apart from works: when we read and study scripture there's many questions, we must ask ourselves, first who is the intended audience of the epistle or book??? next is how does this apply to the body of Christ! the book of James is not to or for the body of Christ the intended audience is the 12 tribes of Israel ? I'm curious what tribe are you from !! James 1:1 New International Version James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, To the twelve tribes scattered among the nations: Greetings. Wonderful study! I have been a Christian for over 40 years, and had never heard of the Cornell method of study! I'll have to look into it in more depth. I have always loved the book of James...it's chock full of practical life advice; like the book of Proverbs. When you read James 1:17 to us, I couldn't help but think of an elderly saint from our first church who quoted that Scripture almost weekly! But see the impact he made on me as a baby Christian all those years ago? I STILL hear him quoting it in my head! I love YOUR love for God's Word...it shows in how you handle and rightly divide the Scriptures. Looking forward to part II! Have a blessed day, Pam

I don’t know if I have used it for Bible studies, though I do remember using it for my studies in school. It was very helpful for me to get the information out of the block of text in my books. Whichever one of my teachers had the foresight of teaching it to us in the late 80s or early 90s, I am fully grateful for that lesson and it definitely was part of my deep dive in learning how to learn stuff. Thank you for sharing your application of this method to Bible study. Another way to use the summary section that I thought you were going to go towards is the way the passage is helpful for your own life in your daily practice of doing the things that you’re doing. So in trusting God to take care of you, maybe how you would put that into your summary statement as a personal way of reminding yourself what the lesson of the passage is about.
@bookhuggah2 ай бұрын
Not that I thought you would share your deepest worries with us on internet, but yeah, that’s just an example with this particular passage of the Bible. 🥰 now I feel like I have the need to go cover my head with a blanket and hide because I have shared too many words… ah well. The emoji is sweating hearts of embarrassment, in my interpretation.
@iamamandabrown2 ай бұрын
Thank you so much and you’re welcome! You are right, that is a great way to use the summary section and also correct that I didn’t want to share anything too personal. Sometimes I struggle with finding a balance in my Bible study videos on how much to share, but not wanting to over share on such a public platform. 😬 I truly appreciate your comment and you don’t need to go into hiding. I enjoyed reading everything you wrote. ☺️

Amanda, let me start out by saying that I have a small handful of subscriptions - I don't follow a lot of folks. But - your videos are the one that I check regularly for updates - and always set aside to watch as soon as I see they are available. For me, the very best video that has impacted my life was the one about using the Cornell study method. I've started using this in my quiet time - not all the time - but a lot of the time - and WOW. It was just blessed me so much. I would love to see you sharing from some of your studies what you did and what God laid on your heart. One thing I'd love to see also - and this may sound crazy - is just a short video - maybe 3-5 minutes on your favorite thing from the week - maybe the scripture that just ministered to you the most or some way God worked in your life that week. It wouldn't even have to be that long...just something like "Wow....I was reading XYZ this week and it really encouraged me to remember or understand this." As an example (from my life), I've been reading and studying in Ephesians and I learned a few things about the word "Adoption". For example - that was not a normal concept in Jewish culture - everything was traced through the bloodlines. But in Greek/Roman culture - to be adopted was when someone was put INTO the place of being an heir to the father - and there was usually a ceremony and celebrating. Everybody then knew that this person was taking over the inheritance or was the "inheritance-owner" I'll call it - of that estate. That just blew me away. I'll be praying for you as you seek the Lord's guidance.

Hi Amanda, you have a nice focus so far on your channel. I think it is a message many need to hear: to see ourselves through Gods eyes. I would like to see you do a video, or a series, on how to keep God’s perspective in the troubled times we are living in. Some people believe we are in “the end times.” Remind us of suggestions on how to walk with God through our current “trials.” On a more superficial note, you might consider what your backdrop (behind you) or your setting tells us about you. I enjoy watching videos where the background is reatively simple, and the items tell us something about the presenter. For instance, sometimes you film at your desk. Other times you have a large bookcase behind you. It is easier for me to focus on your message when you don’t have a large volume of books behind you. I enjoy reading, and I wonder if all your books are all for your Bible studies or if the books cover different topics. You are probably aware that people learn in different styles. You might try to have some visual aid. For example, on some of the channels I watch the presenter has a few words on the screen summarizing points that are being made. God bless you and guide you on your channel.
@iamamandabrown2 ай бұрын
Thank you, I appreciate all of your feedback! I’ve been getting a few responses about walking through trials so I’m definitely going to be praying about how to present that content. I’ve been walking through some stuff as well. I appreciate the feedback on the background. The bookcases behind me are only because the lighting is better that way, but I can definitely try something else to have a simpler background. The books in one bookcase are all related to spiritual growth in some way (Bibles, study resources, personal growth, etc). The other bookcase are my husbands book and my cookbooks. Thanks for the feedback on the visual aids. I do it sometimes, but I’m not consistent about it. I will try to do a better job using visuals because I do understand there are different learning styles. Thank you again!

Sweet Amanda, thank you so much for opening yourself up to our feedback, and offering to address our issues in future videos. I have been born again for 45 years, my hubby and I raised our children "in the nurture and admonition of the LORD," and yet one of our two children completely rejected God and turned her back on us. I haven't seen her for 3 years. I struggle with knowing how to cope with all this heartache, and live with it every day. I am a very sensitive over thinker, so it's especially hard! I just want to know how to find peace and acceptance...my head certainly knows, from God's Word, but my heart is a slow learner. Thank you again, hon.
